Received a letter from British Sweepstakes on January 6th, 2006, stating that I had entered a "Telephone and Light Bill drawing held 11/15/2005. Of which I never did. Participants were selected from a computer ballot, drawn from 128,000 telephone/light bills of individuals who signed up for the services. Of which I never did.

It seems that my ticket number with a serial number emerged as one of the winning numbers. Therefore I am to be awarded a lump sum of $50,000 which is the total price payout money of $29,137.00 shared among the winners.

The letter I received futher stated that they are enclosed a check for $50,00 which was not included in the letter. I am asked to contact a Ms. Gladys Peters, at 1-647-868-1719 as soon as I received the check to enable them to either update/conclude my claim.

They stated that they will consider my so called claim received/completed if they do not hear from me by Tuesday, Febuary 14th,2006. If anyone out there has received the same letter , please let me know. This is another scam that needs to be stopped!

Update on British Sweepstake Scam

AUTHOR: Loretta - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, February 14, 2006

On February 13th, 2006, I wanted to investigate this SCAM futher so I called the telephone number shown in the letter I received. A man called Paul answered the phone. He had a heavy mid-eastern speech. When I asked to speak to either Gladys Peters, the claims co-ordinator or Heather Anderson, claims manager, he became very nervous and asked if he could help me and that Heather was busy and I must wait 10 mins. to tlak to her.

Finally, after being put on hold for three mins., Gladys Peters got on the phone.she also had a foreign speech...she repeated me my home address and home telephone number and verified my winning lottery number from information she had on file. She asked if I had received a second letter, which I had not. I believe some way these SCAM ARTISTS have been able to hack into Electric and Telephone Companies computers

At this point, she told me that I would be asked to pay an amount to a different person or agency in order to claim my $50,000. I assured her this was not going to happen unless I received a certified letter validating my claim to be true.

She got extreemly agitated with me. I immediately asked for her e-mail address and fax number under the gise that calling was too expensive and that I would communicate with her by fax or e-mail.

Here are the numbers she gave me, which I have not checked out. E-Mail address is: G P Vicky Johns@Yahoo.com and the Fax Number is 514-341-7725. Has anyone out there called British Sweepstakes?? Please let me know...
