Broadway Camera Versaille Bait and Add-On Ripoff New York New York

DO NOT TRUST THIS MERCHANT - THEY ARE CROOKS. I was visiting from out of town but needed to buy a Canon camera on short notice for my son's birthday. I knew I wouldn't be getting a great price, but was leaving on vacation the next day so had few options.  I had done some previous research on the base model camera and found it to be reasonably priced in their store.  The salesman also suggested and very aggressively sold me on a Digital Advance Professional Lens to accompany the camera.  He showed me a box with the lens priced at $1,399 and informed me that I could purchase it with the camera for $499.  I also purchased a digital memory card.   The total purchase of the camera, lens and memory card came out to $1,012.  The merchant's return policy was printed on the receipt (No Refunds, Exchanges only within 7 days), though they did not advise me verbally of it in the store.

While I had done previous research on the camera before coming to the store, I had not done the same thing with the Digital Advance lens.  I was dismayed to find out after I left the store to find the same item on Amazon.com priced at $150, along with several reviews here on Yelp and other sites noting how certain merchants had marked up the item outrageously.  I cannot help but feel that Broadway Camera did the same and that I was taken advantage of.  Since I went out of town with the family immediately after the purchase, I could not return the lens.

I contacted Broadway Camera two days later via phone and expressed my disgust with their "buyer beware" sales tactics.  They advised me to fax a complaint letter to them, which I did that same day and in it advised them that I would dispute the purchase of the Digital Advance lens with my Visa card issuer.  Since the $499 add-on lens was not itemized on my sales receipt, I asked Broadway Camera to refund me an amount of $350  (the difference between the purchase price of $499 and the reasonable retail value of $150) to my Visa card.  The store did not respond to me or my fax request but instead sent my Visa card issuer copies of their sales drafts and invoice, whereupon the Visa issuer put the charge back on my account and would not refund me either.  

BUYER BEWARE!  THESE GUYS ARE BAIT & ADD-ON CROOKS.  Please do not patronize this barely legitimate business
