I worked for Brown Taylor & Company for a month.

The deal flow begins with the analyst calling a prospective client. After posing a list of questions, he/she asks the prospective client if they wish to sell their company. The very few clients who did make it to that point were asked to sign an NDA, and send the analyst their financial records (these are private companies, this financial information is not readily available to just anyone). After they sign their NDA (but before they send over their financial records) clients will usually ask BT&Co to sign the NDA as well, but BT&Co does not. At first that seemed off to me, but by the time I left the company it made perfect sense, the company does not want to honor agreements.

What I mean by this is, I signed my agreement to work for BT&Co, and was told I would be paid $4,000 on the first of the month, however when the first of the month came the company said that they did not sign the agreement, and that they wouldn't pay me for my work. While we had a verbal agreement, they said that they did not have to honor the agreement because they did not sign the agreement. They said that I was not part of the firm, and I was not a representative of the firm. That was odd as my 2nd week on the job I was put on the website as the Vice President.  Furthermore, when I did contact the company my calls were blocked, and my emails were not responded to.

This is a bad company. In an industry where reputation is everything, BT&Co are making a solid play to soil theirs. If you have the opportunity to work with the firm, or if they call asking if you are interested in selling your company, don't. It is not worth the headache.
