Browns Bay Marina Money was paid for rebuilt motor..didn't receive it until 8 months later!!! Ripoff!! Shoddy work! Edgewater Florida

I traded a 8hp Evinrude boat motor in early 2007. The agreement was that I would pay $250, the difference in price for the 25hp Mercury motor. Walt, the owner, gave me $400 for my motor on trade-in and in return, after I paid him the $250 in $50 installments weekly, he would rebuild the Mercury to proper working condition. I must add my boat, which I wasn't done refinishing, was still down.

I told Walt not to rush on the motor for 2 months because I was still working on my boat. He said ok. He promised my motor at the end of that 2 months. I never saw it! I went to his shop every week asking if my motor was done and every week he'd promise it to me the following week. This went on for 6 months!!

I gave the man every opportunity and the benefit of the doubt. I am a trusting man and word is everything. I took him at his word!! Big mistake. I did have a receipt dated in April 2007, when I finished the payments. It said PAID IN FULL.

By September 2007, I threatened legal action! Finally, in December 2007 I got my motor after repeatedly threatening to call a lawyer! When I got the motor, it didn't even work!! I was so frustrated at this point I didn't want to bring it back to him because I knew I probably would never see it again! The fuel line was leaking, it didn't run, the fuel pump didn't work, he had put the WRONG spark plugs in it, and even put new gasketts in it on top of the old ones!! He didn't even bother to remove the old ones!!!

I took it to a different marina the following week and when I told him who I got it from, the guy there just rolled his eyes and said he's seen so many motors brought into them that had been worked on by Walt!! DO NOT GO TO BROWNS BAY MARINA for anything!!!!!!!! Not worth your time or money. All you will ever get is broken promises and excuse after excuse!! He's a liar in a cheat!! Crap work for good money paid!!! My advise, get everything in writing!!!!!
