Bruce Telephone Company Hard core ripoff Bruce Mississippi

I have an account with Bruce Telephone Company in Bruce, Mississippi. They are beyond bad. They charge 39 cents a minute for long distance. I have called to complain before, which resulted in a liasion from the Public Service Commission contacting me. Bad idea. Turns out, he is in bed with them. After listening to him blather on for several minutes about how they were "good people" and I had an "attitude problem" for complaining, my eyes rolled back in my head and I just told him I suck and was a chronic complainer... you know how it is when you KNOW you can't win....

I contacted another carrier to change the long distance rate plan (they only allow you to use one or two carriers with I chose the cheaper one). I switched to a 7 cent a minute plan using a rep. BTC rejected it. They only allow what they want.

Fast forward a few months. I called again to complain, only to be met with a verbal assault from one of their employees. She told me how she didn't like me and didn't appreciate how I "went behind her back" and tried to save money on long distance. She suggested I go to Wal-Mart and buy a calling card if I didn't like their rates. Yes, a calling card is cheaper than their rates. Needless to say, I was and still am PISSED.

I can't call the PSC, the FCC probably doesn't care and there is nothing AT and T can do about it. They are the only game in town when it comes to buying a cell phone, so that option is out too. They resell Cingular and get a cut of the action. Not only that, I have been told that they bought the rights to airspace above Bruce to keep other cell phone companies out. Cellular South has been trying for YEARS to offer service in Calhoun county but has been blocked by BTC and the corrupt local government.
Want internet? NO "outside" company is allowed to offer internet access in Bruce. Try it.

Internet service is offered by ONE company... next door to BTC. You can guess the rest....
Independent phone companies suck.

I'm not making any of this up. I would LOVE to hear from anybody else with this experience.
