Promised pool would look brand new, wanted all monies up front, we paid $9,000 plus of 11,000 bill. Changed color of paint from what we picked without telling us, said he thought it "would look better".  Paint job was supposed to last 15 years, started to peel away in 3 months.

We purposely withheld last 1,000 due to concerns about paint job. Would not come to see pool when we complained, stated we "highjacked" his money and said  guarantee was void because we didn't pay the last $1,000. Stated we had signed the contract agreeing to those terms.

Advertises quality work, honesty and integrity, also states many of his customers are repeat customers- I highly doubt that!

LS Morton, Pennsylvania response

You performed the work on our pool in 2008. At that time you said you had 15 years experience! Originally you were called to replace tiles that had fallen off but when you arrived saw that the job was bigger than a few tiles and recommended a new tile job. After discussing everything we agreeed to new tiles and refinishing of pool. You said it would look "brand new" and really sold us on the fact that the coating was guaranteed for 15 years. I went onto the site and researched the ultra poly coat acrylic coating and felt it was appropriate. You acid washed the old finish, which didn't work and then needed more money so you could rent the equipment to sand blast it. The guy who applied the coating obviously never did so before as evidenced by you standing pool side directing him. In fact, each time you came you seemd to bring some very questionable workers with you, never the same 2 guys. When we had alot of leaves come into the pool before it dried you said not to worry,  they would just come off when the water filled the pool and not make marks-not so! When we noted stroke marks on the floor of the pool and walls and noticed areas of the coating coming up we called you. You immediately said the guarantee of your job was void due to not having received last $1,000 of bill (we purposely with held so we could be sure we were satisfied with job.) Then you said we hijacked your money!
You did change the color of the pool, I had picked a light blue, you put a bright blue on. When I saw it and asked, you told me you thought it would look better with the tiles I picked. (You probably used left over materials and that may be part of the reason the pool looks like crap!).
My husband tried to reason with you, said we would pay you the cash balance-all we wanted was for you to come back and see the pool. You never did! We were screwed, and there is no way you can remedy that now. I only hope others do their research well before hiring you.
If you check your invoices from 2008 (if you even had them), you will find our information!

Hi my name is Bryan Ruff and I am the owner of Built Right Pools. I would like to address your concerns. Unfortunately I don't know what customer this is. We would NEVER coat a pool a different color without permission from our customer. All i can tell is you are a years past customer maybe 2010 or 2009?. We installed our first coating a week before memorial day in 2011. I am looking through my 2010 invoices for a customer that withheld any payments. We cant find any. I am sure if you called me and explained your not happy or having an issue we would be willing to work it out. Although our contracts do state that all warranty's are void until payment is made in full. The only time we enforce it is when we get nervous about a customers ability to pay the final invoice. or possibly caught me on a bad day. They happen to the best of us. Please call me and let me help whoever this is fix the problem.

We do our best to keep our customer and repeat customers happy. Sorry you were one of the rare ones.
