Builtmore Construction Inc & Penn Lyon Homes Duped by Designated Independent Contractor & Modular Home Industry Company East Stroudsburg Pennsylvania

It has been approximately seven years since the authorized Home Builder "Builtmore Construction Inc" of Marshalls Creek and State College, PA. - provided us by the modular home company Penn Lyon Homes, of Selinsgrove, PA- walked off the job leaving us with almost seventy thousand dollars more of unfinished work on our home. I had to financially locate an additional seventy thousand dollars just to finish and/or redo what the builder/Builtmore deliberately walked away from, leaving us with an uninhabitable home dwelling. To this day, I am still trying to fix things the builder messed up or never finished, and recover my monies through the court system. (Coincidentally Builtmore supposedly closed his doors; however, the PA Corporation Bureau still has it as an active corporation.)

In the meantime, we've worked with four different lawyers from three different law firms. We were successful in initially winning a legal judgment of approximately sixty thousand dollars with the first lawyer, but have not yet been able to recuperate even a penny of it to date. We have also worked with the PA Attorney General Office/Scranton and the Monroe County Prosecutor's Office to assist us in recovery, but to no avail.

We learned in the process, that this same builder also duped four other people in local construction situations. These include two other homeowners, one contractor, and another couple totaling approximately two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000) of monies paid by all concerned parties to this builder. (By the way, The registered owner of Builtmore Construction Inc also operated at the time and still currently operates an electrical business about 1-1/4 miles from this house.

I have found that owners or officers of a business are treated differently by law than are consumers. This builder has not been required to honor the summons previously issued him. He just closed the doors of the business, stated he was no longer in business, and was not mandated to present himself for hearing disclosures. Incredibly this contractor (or any other business owner) is also not held accountable for legal judgments previously issued under such circumstances. Appears there is no law preventing contrators from just starting up another business, under a new name or line of service as related above.
