Burgess Plant And Seed Company ripoff Bloomington Illinois

I ordered two manchurian apricots and a gooseberry from Burgess which is a plant and seed company in Illinois. The plants arrived bareroot with no covering over the roots at all. The plants were dry, brittle, and totally dead. I emailed Burgess Customer Care and they said in an email with capital letters to put the plants in water and plant them. I had already put them in water so I planted them and of course nothing grew so I asked for a refund and their customer care was so rude. They said it was too late for a refund and that the shipping receipt had to be returned to them for a replacement. I don't want a replacement because several other gardeners I know here said they just continue to send dried up dead plants so what is the point of that.

Anyway, I did a bunch of research and it turns out that 80% of the reports I have read about Burgess are negative and very similar to mine. This company has a bad reputation and a horrible track record. Don't buy from them. A few folks report good things but they are clearly in the minority. Their customer service is disgusting. Avoid them and buy elsewhere.
