Business Office 1-877-435-4009 Phone call scam incident Boston Area Massachusetts

Someone called me at my house from the number 1-877-435-4009 asking me for my name, which I gave to her and then immediately ask me for my date of birth, I ask her what company I was talking to, and she replied that she needed my date of birth first, I ask her what kind of business is it but she insisted in order to proceed with "my file" she needed my date of birth. I explained to her that it was very uncomfortable to provide any personal information to anyone, specially when is an unknown company, she insisted for my date of birth. That was enough for me, so I hang-up.

I was still curious about the call, so I called back the 877 number, I got a recording stating:
"Thank you for calling the business office, if you know your party's extension you can dial it at any time, if you need further assistance please press one"
So I dial "0" and a lady who did not gave her name answered, I told her what happened and she agreed that their procedure was to obtain the date of birth or the social security number in order to proceed with the call. I repeat to her what I told the previous operator that it did not sound right to what she replied:
"In that case we will continue to call you until this matter is addressed"

That made it sound like a legal matter. Anyhow I assure her that she will not get any information until I get some first.

I post this incident for follow-up procedure, and for other people to be aware. I'm really not expecting anymore phone calls from these strangers.
