One day I got a message on WeddingWire from a "recruiter" at byDesign Films looking for a shooter for an upcoming wedding. I was hesitant but agreed to see if the opportunity would surprise me. They had me fill out an independent contractor agreement and give them my direct deposit info. I filmed the wedding and supplied the footage to them on a hard drive. The agreement was that they would pay me within 20 days. It's been 6 months and I have not heard from them. They went ghost after they got the footage. I hired an attorney and he said that the company is not located in Los Angeles or any other place they advertise but that they are a small shop in Idaho! Do not fall into the trap that I fell into. Stay clear if you get a message from a "recruiter"!
