Warning Fellow Horse Folks

Do Not Trust Connor Salkeid

I purchased a gaited horse from Connor Salkeid, owner of C J's Stables on 7/21/2017 advertised as "100% Broke",  "Anyone Can Ride Him",  "A Very Good Trail Horse".  He was shipped to me 8/9/2017 and arrived at my boarding farm totally lame on l/s rear leg.  I paid $2,000.00 and traded my perfect, gorgeous TW mare expecting a great trail horse and received a lame horse that was 150 lbs. underweight. The drivers said he must just be stiff from being trailered such a long distance.  It was a good thing the owner of my boarding farm witnessed him being offloaded and saw how lame he was comming out of the the horse trailer.

You cannot ride a lame horse.  Advertising him as he did and telling me what a wonderful, experienced trail horse I was getting was total misrepresentation and false advertising; this could be considered fraudulent.

In addition to his already unsavory behavior this horse trader shipped the horse with no Health Certificate across several state lines: A Federal offense. I discovered Connor Salkeid has been reported for not providing necessary documentation for shipping horses previously, right here on ripoffreport.com.

Connor Salkeid denys any knowledge of the horse being lame.  He will take no responsibility for shipping a lame horse to me.  He refuses to do the right thing and compensate me.  He will do nothing but take my horse, take all my money and pass on his problems and financial losses incurred by having a lame horse  that he could not sell. He shipped that poor horse, in pain with a leg injury, 600 miles with no regard to how he suffered.  It makes my heart ache.

My vet checked this horse the day after he arrived, finding the lameness due to a previous injury and is not sure he will ever be sound.  She taped him to obtain his weight finding him 150 lbs. under weight.  I am having her come back to check him again to evaluate his condition and discuss options.

I WANT JUSTICE...FOR ME AND FOR THIS HORSE!

HOW CAN YOU TELL WHEN CONNER SALKEID IS NOT TELLING THE TRUTH? RIGHT...

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, September 20, 2017

I believe Connor Salkeid did not read the complaint report I filed on him here on Ripoffreport.com.  I clearly stated the horse he shipped was lame coming off the trailer so I had a vet check him the day after he arrived.  She found he was lame due to an old injury to the l/s rear hock.  The second vet collaborated  her findings then performed a series of x-rays.  They showed that he had bone on bone in his hock.  The vet confirmed this condition to be from a pre-existing injury and noted that this had been going on for quite some time.

Everything I stated in the complaint report I filed on Connor Salkeid, owner of C J's Stables, is 100% true.  I gave an accurate account of what he did to me.  I have wittnesses and 2 different vets to confirm the horse's lameness.

A few more things need to be adressed about the rebuttal Connor Salkeid filed.  I have no idea why he refers to this horse being tender from having his shoes pulled and says nothing about the findings of him being permanently lame from an injury sustained while in his possession.  The fact is...A gaited barefoot farrier checked this horses feet 4 days after I got him.  He observed that there were no nail holes in his hooves; meaning this horse did not have shoes on to pull.  Hmmm.  Wonder why he lied about that?  Wonder why he makes that an important reference point?

Another interesting item is Connor probably saw the horse being kicked the first time he turned him out.  Caution to the wind, he threw the horse in with a group of horses in pasture, all of which chased and beat him up: This is straight from the horse trader's mouth.  Connor Salkeid told me this story during a phone conversation we had.  Regardless; the horse trader lied about the horse, knowing him to be injured and lame he sold him to me, shipped a horse in pain over 600 miles and takes no responsibility for his actions.

Regarding the tall tale he told about my TW mare...I will not dignify it with a response.

False accusations

AUTHOR: Cjs stables - (USA)

POSTED: Saturday, September 09, 2017

This horse was descibed in the sale ad: "to be a little tender or off in the rear. Possibly from shoeing/not being shod." The buyer knew that, and so did all the other 24,000 people that saw/ read the ad. The horse was transported with a coggins, which is all that is needed to transport horses across state lines, some state require health certificates, such as Florida. (Which the horse did not enter). As with all horses we sell, we offer a pre purchase vet exam, at the buyers cost, and this buyer did not wish to have one, also this buyer read and signed a bill of sale, stating you are buying the horse stated as is where is, the horse comes with any and all faults/conditions that they might have at the time of purchase. That the buyer waives all accusations if a vet exam is denied. On top of all this the mare that this lady traded, is very very tender and can not be ridden on dirt/rocks at all. Grass this horse is fine, but on anything other than that this said horse is so sore you can't even ride her.
