C L Barnes Furniture ripoff Alexandria Virginia

I just read with interest another complaint filed against CL Barnes on your site. I too have been ripped off by them. I paid cash for a dinette set on December 11, 2004. I was given a delivery date at the store when I purchased the merchandise.

I was called the night before and told they could not deliver as promised. Due to the death of my former spouse, I had a lot of legal issues to contend with and was unable to reschedule. I cancelled the order for several reasons: The store manager was very rude. He insisted on delivery times & dates that were not convenient to me because I had business to take care of, was very busy at work and could not and would not take time off from work for a delivery. The store manager insisted on a Sunday delivery and after I told him that I attended church, he asked me whether church was all day! This was just too much and I told him that I did not want their merchandise and I was cancelling the order. He told me that I would have to pay a 20% restocking fee. I told him fine and that I would take legal action for the rest.

I have not received my money even after e-mailing and calling the store several times. I received a voice message from Steve Amberger, who I was told is either the President/Vice President of Sales. I informed him of the situation and have yet to speak with him or receive my money. I am in the military as I informed him and have contacted the legal department. They have agreed to take the case but at this point are swamped with other cases. I was referred to a legal organization where law students take cases as well. I have just sent another e-mail to Mr. Amberger to let him know that I will not stop until I receive a refund of my money.

I also copied and pasted the report that I found regarding another CL Barnes store. The report included Mr. Amberger's name as well. In addition to this report, I have contacted some of the military bases in the area to alert military members of the unscrupulous business practices of CL Barnes just as I promised in the e-mail to the company. I will continue to make people aware of this company and strongly advise them not to do business with them.
