I had Bought a Buick from cable Dahmer a year ago that was advertised online at $15,000 I’ve made all of my payments (328.00) on time and I put down $1000 and a year later I owe on the principal $15,200. What I believe happened is that between my decision on the car and the time I left the finance office they raised the price a few thousand dollars hoping I wouldn’t catch it, and I didn’t unfortunately. I had referred a friend to them and she had the same problem however I recently found out she had caught the error before agreeing to sign and the finance guy played it off as a minor mistake. In theory I should be down to about 10-11 thousand left on the principle. I’ve done numerous purchases through them but never have I felt so cheated in my life. I’m planning on presenting my case to the attorney generals office and the BBB. In the future I’ll be using a different more reputable dealership for my vehicle needs.

What's the ripoff?

AUTHOR: Flint - (Afghanistan)

POSTED: Sunday, June 24, 2018

Unfortunately for you, being stupid and agreeing to pay more than the asking price for a car isn't illegal.  You should have reviewed the purchase and financing contract carefully; these always state very clearly the amount you are financing.  Most likely, you are forgetting about things like sales tax and various BS fees, and they also upsold you on something like gap insurance or an extended warranty or something.  Even so, you must be borrowing at an absolutely outrageous interest rate, like 18% or something like that.  My credit cards don't even charge that much in interest.  That's the real ripoff.

Next time, don't be stupid and read the paperwork.  As it is, you have nothing to complain about.  You willingly signed the purchase contract, and if you didn't read it, that's not anyone's fault  but yours.

The advertised price is not the issue. The agreed upon cost and interest rate noted on the financial agreement is the issue.

The BBB has no authority and the attorney general can do nothing for you because the written agreement supersedes the verbal agreement.

They Did This With BBB Consent!

FIRST...YOU should have read the contract BEFORE agreeing to the terms! Now, let's get into the business at hand. You are going to complain to the BBB??? Exactly who do you think the BBB is? The BBB with all their BS is NOT part of ANY government body and they have ZERO POWER to do anything! Their ONLY purpose in life is to SELL their PHONEY ratings to ANY business which wants to BUY one. It's just like a PHONEY diploma mill. In this case, the car dealer has PURCHASED their PHONEY "A" rating from the BBB-BS. If you were to complain to them, the BBB-BS would not, under ANY circumstances side with you against their customer. If you were to partake of their SHAM arbitration "program", the "mediator" is a PAID employee of the BBB-BS and he/she WILL NOT decide against a paying BBB-BS customer. If they did, they would be looking for a new job! The BBB-BS SCAM is to try to convince you they are part of some government body, which THEY ARE NOT. The boss at the top of the outfit gets a huge part of the rake off. The capos at the local level also receive a part of the rake off. Yes sir, that's your wonderful, trust worthy BBB-BS! Just enter ""BBB SCAM" into the You Tube search box!
