I bought some items from them once! The salesman's name is John Williams and although I've told him I'm not interested in purchasing anything else, he constantly calls. He even somehow managed to get my cell phone number and "snuck" through to annoy me on that number.

Regardless of telling him that I do not have to buy anything "at this point in time" or saying I'm all set, he refuses to stop at that and will act as if he's known me all my life and then will run into a series of jokes...many of them racial or slanderous. I've also told him that based on some comparison, it's not worth buying anything else from him because I can get the same things he sells considerably cheaper.

After hearing from him for the second time from the initial purchase, I've been trying to ignore him by screening all calls that come to my extension. He has since managed to annoy and waste the time of my secretary and others in the accoutning department.

I have told him countless numbers of times I do not have to buy any of his products whether they be hole saw kits , recip blades or whatever and even told him someone else is doing that type of purchasing to get him off my back. He then called back my secretary and wanted a different name in the company to harass. He wastes a lot of time and is a sheer annoyance!!

With nothing better to do on a Sunday afternoon I stumpled upon this site and I thought it might be helpful to all concerned if I gave my perspective.  I have worked for a CCS satellite office for several years.  I can say from experience that I have seen the harassment that some are complaining about, but I have also seen accounts who were thrilled with their associations with their salesmen.  One fact that must be clearly understood is that CCS is not at all involved with selling:  they buy orders from their satellite offices, and they handle order fulfillment and billing.  Any harassment, rudeness, or misrepresentation of product experienced by people who have been contacted by salesmen is the fault of the salesmen and not CCS.  Salesmen who behave like that are a minority, and they are inevitably unsuccessful.  I take care of my accounts.  I offer them good value for the price, and as someone else noted, I know which products are well priced and which ones are not.  Average quality teflon tape 1/2" x 520"  for $.99 is a good price.  A jump starter with an air compressor for $139.90 that you can get at Wal-Mart for $49.99 is not a good price.  A good salesman will know which products are good values and which products are not.  My accounts know me and trust me.  They know that I say what I mean and I do what I say.  If my account tells me he doesn't need anything this month I will tell him a joke (a dirty joke if that's what he likes, or a clean joke if he prefers) and tell him I'll call him back next month.  It isn't calculus.  In any field there are shady salesmen.  The market will eventually weed them out;  sadly some customers usually get ripped off before that happens.  Products aside, my accounts buy from me because they like me, they trust me, and the net30 billing terms are convenient.  A good salesman does not need to lie to sell his product.

 

When I call a business and the buyer tells me to take him off the list, I will throw away his lead card or his invoice.  Some salesmen think it is funny to harass people who have requested not to be contacted.  This does not help the salesman, and it hurts integrous salesmen like me because buyers group me with these morons.  I have been sworn at by buyers because the last salesman who called him was unprofessional.  All I can do is to tell him to have a good day and call someone else.  This is beyond my control.  A salesman can push a buyer and create urgency without being rude.

 

Any salesman who is experienced and successful will not act like a child or misrepresent the quality of products.  First, it kills his integrity, and the buyer will never trust him again.  Second, if a product gets returned, the salesman takes a hit in his commission.  If a salesman wishes to remain in sales longer than a month he will soon learn that such dubious tactics will quickly get him nowhere.

 

In conclusion I will say to buyers who have had a bad experience that you had the misfortune of being contacted by a lousy salesman, although you might have sworn that you'll never buy over the phone again please bear in mind that these jerks are a minority.  I know many hard working salesmen who place nothing above their integrity, and who will gladly pass on an quick order to maintain that integrity.  To salesmen in any industry I will say that if you work hard and sell with integrity you will have a long and successful career.
