Just finished a week down in PCB. My son and four of his friends thought they would rent scooters from California Cycles one evening. What a mistake. I wish we had looked them up on the web and checked them out before hand. When all was said and done we were out $600.00.
California Cycles claimed we had scratched one of the bikes and that the boys had signed a form stating that they would forfeit all deposits to cover any damage. Now all the boys are under the age of 18. One of the employees Randy got some random 18 year old girl off the street to sign the boys contracts. Also they had no clue what they were signing.
Colleen Swab is one of the foulest mouthed person I have ever spoken to. She is the owner. You get absolutley no where with her. Her attitude is s**t happens. When we called the police basiclly they said it was a civil matter and they could not help us and I think California Cycles is quite aware of that and they know that most people they rent to are from out of town and don't have the time to take them to small claims court.
This place has a good little scam going. Rip off the out of town vacationers year after year and keep on getting away with it. I spoke with some locals in the store next to them and they said they have been doing this forever. Now I have only listed one store on this complaint but they have about 5 or so up and down Front Beach Road and Thomas Blvd.
Please don't rent from them unless you want to go broke real fast.

Those boys were already sitting on the scooters when they where asked to initial the so called paper work you have everybody sign. Not one empoyee pointed any damage allready exsiting on any of the scooters. They didn't even tell them what they were signing. Also Randy got some girl form off the street to initial this paperwork.
Second I was there with them at the first meeting. A parent not just a teenager and the first words out of your mouth was "sh* happens" and then you looked and my younger daughter who was also there and so said "oh excuse me" in a very non-believable way. You had the foul mouth and when we couldn't get any kind of response from you in a business like manner your damm right we had had enough of the bull sh* you put us through.
You keep on believing that you run a legit business but sooner or later it will all come back to bite you in the a*s. One day you will mess with the wrong person who has the time and money to take you and all your dirty business practices to small claims course since all these situations are always a civil matter.
Your employees don't follow your so called practices regarding the paper work end of things. YOu know and I will sure make it known that everyone else knows just how shady your business is.
Spring season is coming and I hope to get the word out for all out of state vacationers to stay away from ALL establishments. KARMA -don't ever forget that.

We are the only company that takes the time to have everyone sign a form of what the vehicle looks like before they take the vehicle just like a rental car service They must have a driver license to ride. We try everything in our power to make sure the person damaged the vehicle pays for the damage We put new parts on vehicle.
These teenagers had foul mouths from the start i try to be as courtous as i can be it tends to get difficult when teenagers are screaming at you for not taking responsibilty for damages they do. They sign a waiver says you are responsible for damages they hve the option to buy coverage they have to initial the contract if they want coverage or not so they do understand if they damage it they have to pay for it. There is no scam you damage the vehicle you have to pay for it that is in any company
