I brought a Daewoo, Nubria 2000 on October 2 from a very large dealership. I traded in a 1996 Honda Accord that was in very good condition and I gave a $1,500 down cash deposit. My credit is excellent.

The car cost started at $12,665. After leaving the Finance person's office, the bottom line of what the car cost is now $19,999. The interest is 9%. I tried returning the car within two weeks.

Within that time the car was in the shop for one week to repair door hands and nail screw. I flew back into town from a trip three weeks from original sale, called dealer manager and told him I was not satisfied with the car because just to get the car serviced, I'd have to travel to a different dealer one hour away from my home and the car performance is poor.

The sales manager told me to come in and he'd put me into another car. When I arrived there he said I could get another car to come in the next day to pick one out. I returned next day and he was not there. Another person began showing me a car that I wanted that should have been the same price, but I was told I had to pay an additional $4500, I came again two additional times with similar results. I refused to pay another penny.

I've gone back three more times and have been given the run around on prices. I've had a mechanic look at the car and they've found things wrong, from the brakes to the lop sideness of the car.

I realize I signed the contract to get this scrape metal, but, isn't there a law against selling a car in Phoenix, Arizona that's over priced and broken promises for replacement?

I've written the Better Business Bureau and there response was
cannot help obtain adjustments on unsatisfactory merchandise where no misleading advertising can be proved; appraise articles; handle complaints regarding size or misfit of articles; pass judgment on the question of the price charged for merchandise. However, will pas on my complaint to company in question.

They filed the following rebuttal to the above Rip-Off Report:

Their email: wangel@kansascity.com

Their name: Robert Sokol

Their relationship to the company: Consumer Advocate

Rebuttal:

Car dealers really like people like you. You trade in a great car and take a piece of crap car in exchange. Unfortunately, there is no law for stupidity, just as there is no law for paying too much for a car. The problems you have found with the car, brakes, lop sideness, etc, don't mean anything unless the dealership refuses to honor the factory warranty. That is why you have a warranty. It is not grounds for returning the vehicle.

The best part of your report was when you went back to the same

dealership after being ripped off to try and re-trade the vehicle. Did you expect them to take your used vehicle and trade you even?

The dealership will always try and trade you or anyone out of their vehicle when they can make money.

I suggest that if you don't like the car, sell it or trade it

at a different dealership. Also, next time, take someone with you who knows the car business a bit better than you.
