I called Capital One tonight with a question about my bill. I answered the questions the customer service person had for me on my capital one account. Then then notified me that they can not speak to me about my account because I am not the primary card holder and Privacy Laws (PIPA). I asked what are they talking about and they switched me through from one person to another, this went on and on, until I got a supervisor. Then one of the people said I need to speak to the Fraud Investigations Unit. I asked why? They wouldn't tell me.

I called back again and asked to speak to a supervisor, they got one on the phone after I waited on hold forever. They told me that I have been removed from my own account for the last year to year and half and that I am dead or divorced and that is the cause of my problem. I told them I am not dead or divorced. I asked the customer service person, "What the hell is going on here? Is someone using my account under false pretenses?" They said "we can't talk to you about your own account." They were rude and could care less about what was going on. Then the one lady I spoke to said that I can talk to someone on Monday about it at their corporate number, etc. I told them that I would like answers on what is going on with my account NOW! They asked if I had used it recently and I said yes. I told them the last purchase and it went through, etc. No Problems.

I called back a third time, I asked for the name of the President of Capital One and asked for the contact information. The Capital One Representative refused to give me a way to contact the President of the Company and would only provide me with his name: Rich Fairbanks, and said he is located in the United States. I asked for and email for Mr. Fiarbanks and I was laughed at and the call was ended by the rep.

I find this really appalling that Capital One has treated me this way and none of this makes any sense at all, what so ever! I am also upset at the fact that I have been informed tonight that for the last year and half or so that none of my credit activities have been reported to the Credit Bureau, and I am no longer on my account which is still active. I have also NOT DONE ANY FRUAD with my card. I also told them over and over if there is someone doing something with my card I would like to know about it. They told me again that I am dead or divorced.

About a year back I had a question on my bill and the Capital One Representative told me that my account is frozen. I asked Why? They said it was frozen due to the fact that I am in Credit Counseling. I told them that that is not the fact and know nothing about it, I haven't been to any Credit Counseling and I pay my bill every month. They then sent me an apology letter in the mail stating that there was an error in their system and that they have now verified I am not in Credit Counseling, and the problem is fixed. They also gave me a credit on my account. Now tonight the Rep is telling me that instance that happened may have removed me from my own account. I am at the point where I wish Capital One would Please Get their Heads out of their a*s!

I am now going to pull my credit report and see what the hell Captial One has been saying about me. For the record, I have paid on my card every month, and as far as I know was in good standing, I never did any fraud on my card. I am so upset now with what they have done to me. I don't even know where to start. None of this makes any sense at all. Now I have to wait till Monday to talk to someone about my account. This is crazyyyyy!!!

What kind of fee was it?

Sounds like you've been through the wringer! I'm not sure I ever read what kind of fee they were charging you. Is it possible you made a late payment or went over your limit? Or is there an annual fee associated with the card? If so, they would have had your authorization to make those charges, but if it's just random, that's odd and I would expect the banking regulators to be interested in it.

Captialone Rip Off??? - After giving Capitalone many chance they did it again, charged me another $29.00 fee without my knowledge or permission and refuse to credit me for it.

Just found out Capitalone charged (stole) me another $29.00 fee on my account after the ombudsmen department for Capitalone said it was all dealt with. I discovered it when looking at my account.

Called Capitalone one today and spoke to Melanie a Supervisor, she was rude to me, then called back and talked to another supervisor "Claire" she was rude too. Claire started raising her voice and screaming at me, I told her she does not need to be rude or scream at me, that I am a customer of Capitalone and don't need to be treated like this, I told her I will be contacting Richard Fairbanks. She yelled at me "Who is Rich Fairbanks?" I replied he is the President of your Company. She goes "Oh, I didn't even know who he is, don't really pay attention to any of that." After Claire screamed at me and raised her voice I asked to speak to her boss, she connected me through to Jason (Account Mgr) in the New Brunswick call center and he refused to refund me the $29.00 fee that capital one put onto my account. Told him that I would be updating my ripoff report on Capitalone and he did not care one bit, at all in any way. He refused over and over again to refund me my $29.00 fee. Jason tried to throw it back on me that the $29.00 fee was all my fault. No I should not have to pay the $29.00 fee, especially when I didn't know about it.

I am fed up with Capitalone and have given them many chances and this latest round this morning with being yelled at is enough for me. Of all the years I have dealt with Capitalone I don't ever recall being treated so rudely in my life. I am putting in a complaint on Capitalone to the Federal Government and Capitalone Corporate Centre.

I am very suspicious that this $29.00 fee thing is a big scam and puts untold Millions into the pockets of Capitalone's revenue accounts.

I am suspicious that Capitalone one is not only ripping me off but many others.

Capitalone has been very fair and have assured me that the problems have been addressed and dealt with. I appreciate their ombudsman department looking into my concerns. They handled it in a professional manor and satisfied that it is dealt with for now.

Thank you Captialone for acknowledging my problems and issues.

Update: Capitalone had me dead as of 12-21-2006, still screwing up my account, after it was supposed to be fixed.

Just wanted to give everyone an update, The original day I posted the complaint on ROR, my wife phoned Capitalone because I could not discuss my own account with them. Capitalone informed my wife that I had been dead since December 21, 2006. It was a big shock to her, considering I was sitting right near her, breathing, talking, I am alive.

Capitalone said the problem would be corrected and they would have my credit report backdated to cover the mess up (From Dec 21, 2006 and on no credit reporting on my monthly payments on card). Captialone also said I would be back on the account as being alive, and that my account would be restored to where I can call in and ask questions, do things, use the account, etc.

Just today I noticed on my statement that Capitalone wrongfully charged us another $29.00, I called in to have this corrected, the customer service rep asked for my name, I gave it to them. I then asked for the $29.00 fee be removed, and they said that they can not discuss the account with me. I asked why? They said my privileges were limited on what they can discuss with me on my account. Had to have my wife talk to them again. My wife then asked why they didn't correct the screw up already and that I should be able to discuss my account with them. The rep could hardly speak english, after having to argue for almost 5 minutes or more, they finally corrected the mistake of the $29.00 fee. When we asked for a supervisor, we were hung up on. Real Nice Capitalone, hanging up on your customers.

Captialone is at their old games again, I wish Richard Fairbanks would get off his arse and get this all sorted out. If he is the CEO/President of Capitalone, then I feel he should have some responsibility over his own company.

I don't think this will ever end..............Thanks Capitalone.

I am going straight to the top this time and will be demanding action from Mr. Fairbanks. Enough is enough......
