I had Capitol One credit cards and no matter how many days ahead I sent my bill in, they held it and claimed it was one day late, thus the $30 late fees. Before I would get the next bill sometimes, they would claim the $30 would put it over the limit, and charge $30 late fees also. I was so mad, I checked my checking account, and saw that they cashed the check the same date the bill was due and still charged late charges. I finally paid the cards in full and cut them up, then wrote letters to cancel my account. At first, they came up with charges that I owed a little more than my final payment, so I sent that too, then they sent me a little of that back. I will never hold a Capitol One Card/Account again, and I suggest others follow my lead. They will rip you off royally after you've been with them awhile. This practice started after I had my balance up over half the limit-I imagine since I made the minimum monthly payment, they figured I couldn't pay them off and cancel at that point and began the "Late Fee" ripoff games.
