I received an envelope with no return address. Opened it to learn I had been selected to win a lottery in the amount of $125,000 along with 32 other declared winners. Enclosed in the xeroxed letter that had an Ontario address was an authentic looking check for $4,975 supposedly drawn from an HSBC account. The sole purpose of that check was to pay applicable Government Taxes. $2,975 was to be paid to the "tax agent" via Western Union or Moneygram. I had to call first before using the check and was to tell no one of my winnings. The letter was signed by Martin Lawson, Promotion Manager. The address on the letter was different than the address on the check. Checked this website before I did anything further and learned this is a scam. Thank you to others who filed a report.
