I bought a car from CarMart in Villa Park IL. The car would not start at the dealership, We bought a new battery put it in still would not start. I asked for a refund and the sales person ignored me. The following monday they said they put a new starter in, Drove the car home got up to goto work have to work car died on express way. Towed car back to dealer they said it was a loose battery cable. Got car home check engine light came on and car has not started since. This was back on 11-11-06. I contacted company because I found out that the car was a rebuilt/salvaged car and they failed to tell me this. I spoke to AnneMarie and she offered me a refund minus 10% I agreed to this and now they just ignore my calls, emails etc. I really do not why dealerships can get away with fraud like this........

Yeah your company had me sign alot of papers with out really explaining them to me, also the new battery you put was changed back to a used one after I had it towed back to your company.... You really need to learn how to treat customers, and be honest. When Ann Marie made a offered settlement you should have honored it. I would have just pick out a different car but no you would not even do that.... I have let alot of people know never go to your dealership. Even my employer who saw a hummer you had listed was going to go there and changed his mind after the way you treated me...... What goes around comes around

CUSTOMER WAS MADE AWARE OF ISSUES AND SIGNED 4 DOCUMENTS AGREEING TO CONDITIONS OF CAR

AUTHOR: Todd - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, January 19, 2008

PLAIN AND SIMPLE THIS CUSTOMER HAS BUYERS REMORSE. CUSTOMER WAS MADE OF AWARE OF REBUILT TITLE AND NOT ACTUAL MILES. WE DISCLOSED THESE ISSUES PRIOR TO SALE. THAT IS WHY THE CAR WAS SOLD FOR SUCH A LOW PRICE. HE EVEN HAD IT INSPECTED BY A MECHANIC ON PREMISE BEFORE PURCHASING. PRIOR TO PAYING IT WAS DISCLOSED AGAIN AND DOCUMEMTS WERE SIGNED TO ATTEST TO ISSUES. HE FAILS TO MENTION THIS AS HE TELLS HIS STORY. AS YOU KNOW THERE ARE ALWAYS 2 SIDES TO EVERY STORY, SOMETIMES MORE.

If your vehicle's title was not branded "salvage" or "rebuilt", then Car Mart USA violated State and Federal law!

AUTHOR: Toni - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, December 04, 2006

It is a violation of State and Federal Law to sell a car which was a formerly a "salvage' or "rebuilt" vehicle and not disclose it on the title.

Under Illinois law, if a licensed rebuilder performs repairs on a salvage vehicle that bring it back to road-worthiness, the "salvage" branding on the title may be changed to "rebuilt." The vehicle may then be registered and used.

Is the title to your vehicle branded "salvage" or "rebuilt"?

If you title was not branded "rebuilt", and you can prove that it was formerly a salvage vehicle, I would file a complaint with the Illinois Department of Motor Vehicles, as Car Mart USA violated the law!

--------------------------

From the Illinois Department of Motor Vehicles website:

"When a vehicle has suffered damage that would cost more to repair than the vehicle's market value, it may be declared salvage. It will be issued a salvage certificate of title ($4) and removed from the roada salvage vehicle cannot be registered.

If a licensed rebuilder performs repairs on a salvage vehicle that bring it back to road-worthiness, the "salvage" branding on the title may be changed to "rebuilt." The vehicle may then be registered and used.

Inspections for Rebuilt Vehicles:

Before this can happen, though, the vehicle must pass a safety inspection at an Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) Safety Testing Lane.

After that, vehicles eight model years or newer must pass a salvage vehicle inspection. This inspection is performed by the Illinois State Police. It's not a safety inspection. Rather, the police are looking for signs that the vehicle (or any of its parts) was stolen.

You'll need to bring quite a bit of documentation with you to the salvage inspection station. A complete list is available in the informative Salvage Vehicle Inspections brochure."
