Purchased a 2006 Freightliner m2 4 car rollback from Carco on 11/11/2010 for 56,800.00.Drove the truck to PA. from MN. The truck had no heater, within the 1st week the brake lights would stop working. On 12/12/2010 the motor went down.I have a 60 day warranty on the truck which carco refused to fix all the issues.Namely the engine. On 12/15/2010 PA.DOT refused to transfer the titlebecause it was a Junk Truck. I was sold the truck with a clear title. Never was I told this was a rebuilt junk truck. After further investigation this truck was claimed as a total loss by Penske in5/6/2009. After many talks with Jeff the owner he refused to take my calls anylonger. I was handed off to Mike a manager at Carco. The last offer I received from them was 54,000.00 and we bring the truck back (which does not run)? How do you do that! Needless to say I had to obtain a lawyer for 3,000.00 to start to try and get my money back. I'm sure I am not the first person who this happened to and surely not the last. Buyer Beware!!!

The Rest of the Story

Fact, the buyer did purchase the truck from our company and for the dollar amount. Fact, the truck heater and brake lights we were told did not function correctly - customer was instructed to bring to repair shop nearest him to get estimate to have repairs made - no estimate was given for repairs, just a bill for near $2,800.00 from the shop, which we later learned had not even repaired the problem.

Fact, the second week after purchase of this truck the owner wanted to trade it in for another style of truck that could haul more cars (the top carry deck on this truck does not allow for a very large vehicle to be hauled on it) There were no problems at this time, but owner really wanted a different truck and called several times to see if we had found one so he could trade.

After searching for the type of truck the customer had requested we were unable on to meet his needs in a short time period, which is right around the time the customer stated he was having engine trouble. Again, we had asked him to bring it to a shop for an estimate on repairs to be made. During this time Mike was assigned to the service order, due to the fact the Jeff has multiple tasks to handle during the day and could not dedicate the amount of time needed to focus on the account.

Engine repairs were authorized off the shops diagnostics and early repair diagnostics and repairs were incorrect and the repair time was extended by the shop of his choice, so during this time the buyer said he no longer wanted the truck. There was a title issue, which our company had no idea existed, but our staff was in the process of making the nessessary corrections for the buyer.

The buyer was offered a buy back price of $54,000.00 only $2,000.00 less than the purchase price to account for additional miles and standard depreciation, but the buyer refused to reason with our staff and demanded a full refund, even wanted to be paid for his lost time. Our company has never had an experience like this in its history, during the sale we even waited a whole month with the truck on hold to recieve payment for the truck, seeing how we are being treated now we should never have done that. Our offer still stands to this day, because we believe that you should treat others as you would want to be treated.
