I had an account with Speigle for several years, and had excellent credit with this company as I always pay my assessed payment in a timely fashion. However, around June of 2003, Card Processing Center (First Consumer Bank), somehow got involved for the purpose of collecting payments.
Please note that in June of 2003, my account stated I owed $1,095, after eight months of payments totaling $60, per month. Currently, February 5, 2004, I owe $1,054.84! I notified the Attorney General's office in NY, but they ignore me. I contacted the NY BBB of which I sent copies of each cancelled check - FCB, with a copy of the letter sent to FCB. I recieved a correpsondence from BBB, stating FCB, said I had to "prove" through copies of checks that I had paid them! I had already sent proof to FCB.
You cannot talk to a human being - they have protected themselves from that. Furthermore, since each month they assesed late fees saying they did not recieve payments on time (from Iowa to New York). I sent four payment by registered mail too (they had to sign the card on date received). Guess what? They slapped on late fees, even though I sent proof of their reciept of payment.
What this company is doing is fraudulent, unethical, and immoral! I have acted in good faith, contacted the agencies who are suppose to protect me - still they do what they want ro do, and get away with it. For example, I have calculated what I have paid FCB since June of 2003 ($480) all of which apparently is what the "accused" for late fees, because my balance since FCB tookover is approximately $40 less than the total of what I orginially owed this company in 2003!
Please be mindful that on several occasions I sent my payment "registered mail", for proof of their receipt of payment before date due! IT DID NOT MATTER! They said I was late.

sent several payments by Registered mail of which they had to sign. It didn't matter

Around June of 2003, First Consumer Bank became the "collector" of my Spegile account. The ammount due abt. $1.095, to date, % February 2004, after eight consistent payments of $60 per month, I received a statement balance of $1,054.84! I calculated from my canceled checks I have made payments totaling $480 yet the
amount owed is just about the same. This would suggest that I have been late each and every month! Therein has been the fight with this company.
I have contacted the Attorney General's office in NY, the BBB, N.Y., AND Equifax with copies of all of my correspondence with this company.
Furthermore, I sent several payments by Registered mail of which they had to sign. It didn't matter, a "late fee" was slapped on anyway! You cannot talk to a human being, so therefore correspondence is not timely and gives them more time to "use" your money as they receive intersts on every doller they hold each day! What First Consumer Bank is doing is not only fradulent, but unethical. I enjoyed excellent credit with Spiegle, and since that time, I have been in a fight with this company for simple justice, and fairness.
Today when I received my bill, and discovered that in eight months paying $30 more than the minimum amount billed every month ($60), only $37, is credited to the overall total I owe!
I can't even begin to pay them off, but it seems no one can stop them.
