I had to get a Care Credit account when I had to have some teeth pulled that were hurting me. This was the only way I had to pay for the procedure. I did not have any dental insurance, because I have a disability and only had Medicare Insurance that did not pay for dental work. I did not have any other way to pay the dentist at the time.

I did not realize that the Annual Percentage Rate was so high on this Care Credit Account, which was 21.98%. I have called them in the past and inquired about such a high interest rate, but they would not lower the rate. This seems like a very high rate considering that my major credit card, Capital One, lowered the interest rate when I asked about it, so why shouldn't the Care Credit lower their interest when times are hard now and the money situation is getting so shaky? The interest rate on this account is ridiculous, and I would never have taken Care Credit if I had not have had to have my teeth pulled.

It is putting a burden on me to pay this on just Disability SSA when my payments are not paying anything on the principle (APR, plus the finance charges).

I use Care Credit/GEMB

I also got the Care Credit when I needed some dental work and my dental insurance was only going to cover a portion.

Now, I know care credit has no interest on some charges if the doctor's office applied the promotion. If the doctor's office didn't, then that is your doctor's fault. My charges were over $700 but they gave me a whole year interest free. I also pay about $10-$20 more than the minimum payment required. This works out perfectly. I also understand the interest rate is pretty up there, but as I said, if your doctor's office gave you the promotinal deal then it shouldn't be a problem. Unless you just CAN'T make the payment at all and you DO have the promotional interest free thing, then of course they WILL tack on the interest fees that accrued. If you don't make your payments, if they are late, or not the minimum amount due, they WILL tack on the interest fees.

Also, if you pay them, assure that you make all your payments through your financial institutions online bill pay. This way you can keep track of all the payments you have made and assure they are made on the due date. This protects you and your account.

Good luck!
