I saw an Ad on the Philadelphia Craigslist for a receptionist position at a Wellness Center. The ad did not mention the job's location, so I sent an email to the response address listed to find out more information. I received an email which did not contain the location of the job. It did contain a link to the High Rise Career's website which allowed me to fill out my basic information and submit my resume. Which I did. The next day I got an email stating I met the job criteria and could go ahead and apply, and my application would be forwarded to the Wellness Center. So I went back to the website to fill out what I thought would be an application. Instead I was asked on page one if I would be interested in furthering my education. I clicked no. Page number two wanted to know if would be interested in investing in a home-based business. Again I clicked "no". Page number three: would I be interested in a debt relief program, I clicked "no". The next page, they wanted something like five references including addresses. phone numbers, emails...at which time it was pretty clear to me that THIS WAS A SCAM!!!!! What application asks for so many references and so much information as the first bit of information needed on the application?! So out of respect for my personal and professional contacts I bagged the whole thing. I can only pray they don't call me or sell my information...but I'm sure they will.
Don't waste your time, folks.

This is an EXTREMELY COMMON RIPOFF ON CRAIGS LIST.Com for Job Seekers
AUTHOR: Joe - (U.S.A.)

Or it seems that way to me.
My cousin is trying to find a job as a legal assistant and she has found numerous job ads from WHAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE EMPLOYERS on craigslist here in Austin,Texas.
She sent out over 100 letters of inquiry and only got three replies --two auto messages and ONE reply from a Nigerian scamster pretending to be a legitimate attorney.
THERE ARE A LOT OF LINKS TO FAKE EMPLOYMENT SITES ON CRAIGSLIST.COM
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THAT ANYONE USE CRAIGSLIST UNTIL THEY DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS SPAM!
GENERAL RULE OF THUMB WHEN USING CRAIGSLIST JOB SEARCHES!
IF IT HAS AN E-MAIL THAT YOU CONTACT THAT HAS CRAIGSLIST IN THE ADDRESS, IT WILL PROBABLY BE A SCAM, AN IDENTITY THEFT SCAM!
DO NOT SEND A FULL RESUME TO ANY OF THOSE.
I TOLD MY COUSIN JUST TO SEND A LETTER OF INQUIRY BECAUSE YOU DON'T KNOW IF YOU ARE GETTING SCAMMED OR PHARMED OR PHISHED OR NOT!
OK, what happened to you is that your craigslist.com job section has what we call AFFILIATE SITES --that is a relatively old internet scam.
The freebies sites are good at this also.
You think you are going to the site for one reason --the only problem is that the site UNPLEASANTLY surprises you and it is NOT at all what you thought it would be and often, before you realize it, you have been SCAMMED before you realize it.
Like the ones that promise you FREE computers if you answer all of these questions, etc.
I NEVER FELL FOR THOSE BUT A LOT OF PEOPLE DO.
SAME THING WITH THE JOB ADS ON CRAIGSLIST.
A LOT OF THOSE CAREER SITES ARE NOTHING BUT PLACES TO GET YOUR RESUME SO THEY CAN STEAL YOUR IDENTITY!
SO DO NOT SEND YOUR RESUMES OUT TO A STRANGER, ESPECIALLY ON A WEBSITE WITH A BLIND ADDRESS ( YOU DON'T KNOW WHERE YOUR RESUME IS REALLY GOING OR YOU DON'T KNOW WHO IS REALLY GOING TO SEE IT AND WHAT THEY ARE REALLY GOING TO USE IT FOR!)
IT IS SO BAD IN AUSTIN THAT CRAIGSLIST IS GOING TO HAVE TO CHARGE $25 PER EMPLOYER PER LISTING.
