So far my coaching experiences with Carleton Sheets coaching program is not at all what I had been expecting. They neglected to tell me that no money down only refers to the inital down payment. I found that out when I spoke to my coach and was informed how many people "are confused and do not understand the concept of no money down".
I was told that refers to only the inital down payment but payment would be required through an agreement with the seller and an agreement with a financial institution. I did not come across any information BEFORE I agreed to pay for this course that "No Money Down" meant ONLY the INITIAL Down PAYMENT.

TV Ad "No Money Down" is misleading... where Linda got the idea that there was "No Money Needed"
AUTHOR: Laura - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Sunday, June 20, 2004
While most understand the concept of "No Money Down" as has been discussed earlier in these rebuttles, the television ad could be seen as misleading in so far as it shows testimonials of individuals who tell their sob stories of how they spent their last few dollars on this course and had no money to invest.
I believe that is where Linda got the idea that there was "No Money Needed" to invest in real estate. However, you can turn around a property before the 1st payment is due, which is usually 30 days after closing.
That being said, I don't believe just because someone misunderstands an informercial, that the company should automatically be put on the rip-off report. I've bought produce at the grocery store that didn't taste all that great once I got home with it - but never felt ripped off for it. I'll just have to inspect further next time.
Sometimes we have to take responsiblity for making hasty decisions. I know $300 or more is a heafty price to pay for a lesson learned, but we've all made costly mistakes in our lives and hopefully learned from them.
Like one of the other posters mentioned...let's not water down this site trying to get revenge because of mistakes we've made. Let's use it more for the true rip-off artists out there!

I have empathy for the woman who was riped off.....

I feel sorry for those who have fallen victim to these schemes, which is why you should always research anything risky like Carleton Sheets program. In the infomercial they do use the term "no money down" which most people who have bought anything that was financed through a lending institution know that a down payment is a percentage of the total loan and that "no money down" means no down payment, you still have the regular payments to make. I am not criticizing the woman who was ripped off. In the infomercial they use that term but they do try to make you think you can purchase a property without any money.

If you look at the cover of Carleton Sheets' program - the name is "No Down Payment". While the program provides strategies to avoid using any of your own money, the course is still "No Down Payment".

Possible Misunderstanding Doesn't Constitute a Rip-off!
AUTHOR: Reenie - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Saturday, September 27, 2003
I've read this string of rebuttals, and I was extremely disappointed in the way this forum for rip-offs was used in this case.
I personally purchased both the "No Money Down" course, as well as paid for the Coaching Program, and yes, it was very expensive. I paid over $3000.
I have occasionally looked back and felt that I was possibly mislead by some of the ideas in Carleton Sheets' material, and that after I completed the coaching program, felt that I should, or could have "done the same thing on my own," and saved myself a huge chunk of change.
In retrospect, without using the system, and it's resources, I would never have purchased the first home, nor would I have made the networking connections I have.
NOW, I can purchase homes, mostly with some money down, but I wouldn't have gotten started without the program!
Think about who you are criticizing here... why are you people rebutting each other??? This is a forum for rip-offs, not personal comments against each other. Let's not water down this valuable rip-off resource. I'm sure there are lots of forums on the internet, if you want to post attacks against individuals, and dispute them!
Most of the previous comments were almost exclusively personal issues, not about the company. The Carleton Sheets program could be improved, I'm sure, and yes, I would have liked to not have spent over $3,000, but it did get me started in buying and selling, and meeting the contacts I needed to.

UNBIASED ON MR. SHEETS & 'NO MONEY DOWN'
AUTHOR: Willie - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Wednesday, July 23, 2003
I am the person whom Linda thought to be arrogant and uninformed about Mr. Sheets. She said I had NO EXPERIENCE with his company and in my defense my very first sentence told everyone that I had learned a lot from the course and that my opinion of Mr. Sheets was neither positive or negative.
Of course I made assumptions about her based on her article just as she made an assumption that I am not in the law field. She happens to be right but it's still an assumption. We all make assumptions all the time. For instance; making an assumption that you'll get your money's worth when you order a product such as the 'No Money Down' course.
I agree with TheaudChick@AOL.com that my comments in my response to Linda were condescending, although I don't think arrogant. I can accept that Linda was upset at my comments and if I were her I would be too. But I need not research the hell out of a statement to give a rebuttal to it.
I spend at least 3-5 hours per month getting back monies ripped off from me by utility companies, credit card companies and any other entity that choses to try to screw me. I'm not that trusting of companies and their sales pitches and I WILL hold them accountable. So, imagine my delight in stumbling upon this website. I thought,"Wow. others like me!" But, after reading some of the comments (which, by the way were opinions of willful wrongdoing) I was a bit disappointed. I realized that most people who found any disfavor with the companies they did business with wanted to put them in the rip-off files immediately.
Once again, just like in my previous rebuttal I will reiterate that this is my conjecture and I am intelligent enough to realize that any and all opinions are valid and they're only gospel to the ones that spew them.

NO MONEY DOWN-- SHOULD BE NONE OF YOUR OWN MONEY DOWN
AUTHOR: Joe - (U.S.A.)

TO ALL,
THE IDEA OF BUYING PROPERTY WITH NO MONEY DOWN HAS BEEN AROUND FOR AT LEAST 50YRS. THE GUY WHO BOUGHT THE EMPIRE STATE BLDG. BOUGHT IT IN THE 50'S THEN PARCELED OFF THE BUILDING IN SECTIONS.
MADE A FORTUNE I HEARD.
WHEN YOU HEAR THE WORDS 'NO MONEY DOWN' WHAT IT MEANS MORE OFTEN THAN NOT IS 'NONE OF YOUR OWN MONEY DOWN'. YES, YOU WILL HAVE TO MAKE PAYMENTS UNTIL YOU EITHER RESELL THE PROPERTY OR UNTIL YOU FIX IT UP AND FIND TENANTS TO RENT IT. THAT IS WHY IT IS IMPORTANT TO DO THE PROPERTY EVALUATION AND CASH FLOW ANALYSIS B4 YOU BUY.
I TOO AM NEW TO THE SHEETS COACHING PROGRAM AND MY EXPERIENCES ARE SO FAR PRETTY GOOD. I FEEL MY COACH IS SINCERE AND I AM ABOUT 2 WEEKS OR SO FROM PURCHASING MY 1ST PROPERTY. I HOWEVER HAVE THE LUXURY OF HAVING THE 5%-10% NEEDED TO PURCHASE THE PROPERTY FOR AN INVESTMENT. IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE MONEY A GREAT WAY TO REMEDY THAT IS TO GET A PARTNER.
THE MOST IMPORTANT THING LINDA,IS TO NOT GIVE UP.
JESUS CREATED US TO BE SUCCESSFUL USING OUR CREATIVE ABILITY TO SOLVE PROBLEMS.
BEST OF LUCK.....

Enough assumptions and attacks
AUTHOR: Linda - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Sunday, June 08, 2003
No one has said anything about the business ethics itself but rather has gladly pointed out what they feel is my stupidity and nativity. Whether or not I am naive the fact remains that this company, in my opinion, which I am entitled to have, has been scrupulous.
No one knows me or my experiences. What is known is a small glimpse into a summary I wrote. Unless someone is a fly on the wall or has been tapping into my phone line then I see no reason to think that I can be assumed into any category.
I do not have the time or inclination to dispute this anymore. It has turned into an attack and I am not going to battle the ignorance, the rudeness or the mean streak in anyone anymore. The point of this site is to discuss bad experiences and not to be JUDGED or personally attacked.

A fortune from other's misfortunes
AUTHOR: TheaudChick@aol.com - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Saturday, June 07, 2003
"Businesses" like Carleton Sheets make money by "slight of term." I'm absolutely sure that many consumers believe that no money down means no money necessary to make money. If Carleton Sheets wanted to be sure all customers understood he would use the term, no money necessary for the initial payment. But the work at home salesmen want the customers to believe that the program is possible for those with no money. More of the same money for nothing.
Willie, your response is arrogant and condescending to Linda. You are very nave to assume that everyone should understand no money down. Carleton is smart enough to know that they wontthats why hes making a fortune from consumers misfortunes.

NO MOney Down Rebuttal ..extremely presumptious, arrogant and rude
AUTHOR: Linda - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Saturday, June 07, 2003
First I would like to clarify to the man who has offered his rebuttal to my previous statement. It is awfully presumptious of someone to assume my intelligence based on my report. You are extremely presumptious, arrogant and rude. You belittle anyone else's experience to suit your own intention and do it without any further knowledge or conversation.
First of all you have NO EXPERIENCE With this company so your statements are based on arrogance on feeling of supreme superiority. You cannot base your information on anything other than a judgement on your own personal belief.
I am a very intelligent woman. I take great offense that you presume my intention is stupidity and to misrepresent this website. I have already spoken with lawyers and have done research into this matter. I have looked at the Better Business Bureau and have found there have been claims against the company. Have you done any research? Have you based your rebuttal on opinion alone? Do you feel that a rebuttal can have validity without any actual solid foundation behind it? Thank goodness you are not in the field of law.
The point of my previous statement is to make others aware that, and if you had any experience with Carleton Sheets you would know this, that the company gives you only 3 days to make a decision without looking at any material. So therefore your decision is mostly based on sales representation. To further my point there are ways to avoid any further down payments such as NOTES. Which I have not yet been enlightened on in my previous sessions.
The next time you feel free to spew your opinion, make sure it is valid and coherent to the facts, and it is without bias.

No Money DOWN! Duh!
AUTHOR: Willie - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Friday, June 06, 2003
I've yet to make a purchase using Carleton Sheets' course but I won't blame Mr. Sheets for that. I've learned a lot from the course, so my opinion of him is neither positive or negative at this point. I do take issue with the lady who claims in effect that she was bamboozled by Mr. Sheets simply because she didn't understand what 'No Money Down' meant. She also says that a coach told her that many people were confused by that term. I would venture to say the coach was simply trying to make you feel as though you were the average consumer with the same questions as everyone else so that he could make you feel more comfortable so that you could buy into the coaching program. I don't know, it's my conjecture. I find it hard to believe that anyone else couldn't understand this everyday term. If you have good credit you could buy a new car with 'No Money Down'. See how commonplace that phrase is?
For those of us who want to use this site to check on fraudulent business people this waters down the potency of the site. Maybe it could be that mentally you're too slow to learn to purchase real estate, purchase a car or even to purchase a loaf of bread.
