I purchased the truck from carmax on august 2006 with extra protection warranty, the finance department and auto services new that the rear hatch did not lock. They told me to take it over to apple ford and they will fix it at no charge. Apple ford lubricated the hatch and charged me $48.00, when I arrived at home the door did not lock. I called them again and they said the warranty did not cover it, I did not have transportation to keep going back and forth every day, so I took the truck in on July 30, 07 for a recall on the abs wiring and the rear hatch again. The truck has been in service from july 30,07 until august 10, 07. When I called the service department they told me it will cost me $480.00, when arrived to pick up the truck it was not fixed on august 6, 07, the service person was bob wieber. He told me from the application, that the customer declined to have the door fixed . The auto service told me that they were waiting for max care to pay the amount. I called again on august 10,07 and the truck was ready to be picked up, but the fee was $297.00 that max care paid and I have to pay the taxes which is $85.00.

amount was the taxes that you paid based on? There is no way you paid $85.00 in taxes on $297.00.

I don't understand a few things in your post. Why would the finance company know that your hatch woudn't work? For that matter, how would the service department know that the lock mechanism didn't work at the time of purchase?
If there was a recall on the ABS system, why wasn't the vehicle taken to a dealership? Why would the repairs come under the "Maxcare warranty" instead of the recall?
And as to the tax on the work performed, who is in charge of that? I am pretty certain it is not Carmax. I did work for Carmax and frankly got tired of consumers treating me like garbage when I tried my best and worked my butt off. But I do know that the mechanics really try to produce great used vehicles. If it was known at sell, did the salesperson write a repair order for the repair of the hatch of your truck? I do know that repair orders are fixed in a Carmax shop and not at the dealership. Was it taken in under the remaining factory warranty?
You have a lot of missing information from your post. I do wish that everyone can be treated fairly and that all used cars could be perfect. But I do know that this is a company that tries to make customers happy.
