In April 2005, I was contacted by Carnegie Career Partners regarding a job that might interest me. Due to the fact that my employer was unstable, I was desperate to get something going.

Upon arrival, I was informed that this was a career counseling service. I was promised several versions of my resume and access to a special database that would give me leads on jobs that the general public did not know about. They also promised special coaching sessions. I was also told that if I did not sign on the day that I was in there, I would not be able to sign a contract with them for 30 days. They then explained how long the average job search can last.

Of course I signed a contract for $4,360.00. However I could not get started right away because my counselor was in the process of moving to Florida from Pennsylvania.

One of the many unmet promises was that I would get coaching sessions. These were a waste of time. My counselor would spend an hour telling me outrageous stories about other people instead of putting together a plan for me. Another unmet promise is that they would help me determine which industries would be a good fit for my skills. This consisted of looking at the SIC general headings. There was never any detail or plan as to how to go after these industries.

It was the late May before I received access to this special database only to find that they did not cover my area of the state. It was late June before there were any jobs in this area. My counselor finally identified some job leads for me. These consisted of graphic designer and mid to low level jobs. My last job title was Director of Operations for a $6m company.

As far as my resume goes, I only received one version. Several recruiting firms and executives looked at and said this does not tell us what you do. I have had to rewrite my resume. When I received their version, they asked me to sign paperwork that it was okay. I told them that it was adequate. However I signed the paperwork. MISTAKE.

I met with them to complain about the lack of focus and direction in an effort to get things back on track. This was a waste of time. Their goal was to get past the 75 day mark.

I received an email from my counselor stated that they had been acquired and were now Borden Elliot. By this time I have filed to have the charge removed from my credit card.

These guys are professional con artists. I have negotiated multi million contracts with two of the largest warehouse clubs in the US over the last years. I can not believe that they coned me. They make a lot of verbal promises with very little on paper. They know exactly what is needed to keep the credit card companies from removing the charges and that is all that they do.

In my travel, I met another one of their clients that was unsatisfied as well. I wonder how many more there are in Tampa Bay?

I noticed that they have opened another office in Orlando, FL. I have filed a complaint with the FL Attorney General and will be contracting the FBI next.

It is too bad that these guys did not provide the services that they offered, I really could use them. Right now, I just want my money back.

Not affilaited with Carnegie Career Partners

AUTHOR: Kevin - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 11, 2006

Borden Elliot has no nexus with Carnegie Career Partners or the Canadian corporate entity that owned Carnegie n Tampa. The client who posted this complaint has never been a client of our organization.

The matter concerning this complaint was resolved with the client months ago; and no other complaint has been made by any other client.

When Carnegie unexpectedly closed their doors in Florida, we hired two of their former employees who asked if we would allow them to continue to support their existing clients from the defunct organization. They felt obligated to uphold the promise to deliver service, and wanted to insure that no client was left without service.

We agreed to allow them to use our facilities and resources at no charge to any clients they had previously serviced, and they have done so without dispute from any of the other clients.

This complaint was posted by someone who was never been a client of our organization. Carnegie Career Partners was owned by a Canadian corporation operating in Tampa. None of the owners or officers of that company are in any way connected to our company, nor have they ever been.

We understand and respect this websites policy to leave all postings on their site regardless of validity. We regret that the unfortunate misunderstanding posted by a client of another company has placed our good name in question.

We are happy however, to continue serve all Tampa area clients as promised.
