Carnival Pride Sexually Harrassed by Security Guard Nassu, Bahamas

I was on the Carnival Pride from 11/29/2009 - 12/06/2009 which left Baltimore.  The day we docked in the Bahamas, which I believe was Thursday, my husband and I got off the ship and did what tourist do.  After my husband had lunch and knew I was ok, (I was about 3 blocks away getting my hair in braids ) he went back to the ship.

I had a wonderful time with the women who do the braids, we were singing and some of the ladies were dancing.  My hair was finally done and it was a good thing because it started to get dark. 

I walked to the ship with many other people and when I got there the guards told some of us to use the employee entrance because the other entrance was getting backed up.  I put my card in the security machine and the guard on duty started making ridiculous faces, then he started licking his lips and raising his eyebrows.  I asked him if I could have my card back. (it was still in the machine).  He continues to lick his lips and was making perverted faces and said "how do I know it is you"?  I said "here is my passport".  He just started smiling with an ugly dirty grin and I said can we get my husband to verify who I am.  He nastily said, your not going anywhere I have you right here with me.  The grins continued and then he called over another guard to look at my card.  Meanwhile, a line is now forming behind me.  Usually two lines can go at oone time but the guard was holding up one line with what he was doing with me.  I asked him again for the card, now about 7 minutes has past and I am extremely nervous and I have no idea what to do.  I asked him again for my card back and he said (while licking his lips) what are you going to do for me?  At first I just stood there frozen and then in a louder than normal voice I repeat some of what he said "what do you mean, what am I going to do for you?  Furiously, he gave me back my card.  I was extremely shaken up.

I then go quickly to my room and my husband is not there, he came about 10 minutes later, he was off the ship looking for me, because by then it was dark.

Later that evening my husband and I meet with Guest Services and the Night head of Security.  Guest Services was kind and helpful.  The night Security manager was a total disgrace.  He first asked me did I think that maybe the guard was thirsty and that was why he licked his lips.  Also I told them that at one time there were approximately 15 people behind me.  The Night Security Officer asked me to write down all 15 names.  I did get angry with him and said, it is because of people like you that females don't report rapes.  I got up and left. 

The next day my husband and I were asked to go to Security, which we did.  I was asked to write up what happened and I did, not just on the lip licking guy but also the night  officer.  I told the security office I wanted copies of everything I wrote.  I was  promised we would have them in our room shortly.  We never received copies and any time myself or my husband went down to get copies the security room was either empty or closed.  We left a phone message also.

In conclusion, all legal action regarding this case must be handled in the Bahamas.  I spoke to someone who has legal ties to the Bahamas and he also said the guard could  also be charged for holding me hostage.

Due to the incident, I did not sleep that night but was up getting sick and had to see the doctor the next day.  It cost me $186.00 I believe.  Also the cruise was for my 50th birthday.  Wasn't a real happy one, now was it?
