Scammers are apparently becoming more innovative all the time! This time they posted a huge "news item" on Yahoo, about a "legitimate" work-at-home scheme, doing "adwords" for Google. All that they were asking for was $1.95 for postage & handling, for the "info package". WATCH OUT!! A few days later, we found an unauthorized deduction from our bank account for $81.32. The bank alerted us that the "company" had "arranged" to automatically deduct that amount from our account, EVERY MONTH! "Rocko", the representative I spoke to on the phone, said "You automatically agreed to this, when you checked the box to get information!" Well, they "technically" got me for both the $1.95 and the one-time fee of $81.32, PLUS, we never got anything in the mail, as promised. I quickly stopped (cancelled) my debit card, and the bank will be issuing a new one, shortly. Anyone else who gets caught up in this "scam", immediately go to your bank and cancel out your present debit or credit card, and have a new one issued, otherwise, these scammers will be "legally entitled" to steal over $80 per month from your account, until the "end of time"!! They can only extract funds on your current card number, however, so there's no need to "close" your account, just get a new card. Hint; If you want to buy anything off of the internet, and the company will not accept checks or money orders, that's your first clue that they want your card data to "abuse" and even "sell" to other con artists and thieves. Sometimes, even "legitimate" mail order companies lose data via "crooked employees" who will also "sell" customer data to scammers for extra money. And keep a constant watch on your monthly bank statements! Some con artists will take only a few dollars out of dozens of accounts every month, (which most people tend to "overlook") yielding them hundreds or even thousands of dollars in stolen "income" each month!
