I got back from my second tour of Iraq in January, 2009. I only had a motorcycle for a year and a half and it was time for an actual car, I was tired of getting rained on because of the southern Georgia weather. The first week home I started looking for used Jeep; I've always wanted a Jeep.

After not seeing anything around town I stopped by Cass Burch Chrysler, located in Valdosta Georgia, and saw a used 2003 Jeep Sarah. The salesman was very nice and showed me the jeep and let me take it for a test drive. After all of that, we were back in his office discussing the price.

I, being new to buying a car, didn't have a clue to what I was doing and I'm sure the salesman and the management who were coming up with the price knew exactly that. After leaving the room, the salesman came in with a sheet of paper with two sets of numbers on it and asked "Would you like to pay this price a month, or this price". Of course, being the new car buyer, I chose the lower price.

I went into the office of a lady who is the person in charge of signing the papers, I forgot the official name. I saw the price, thought it was a good deal and signed them. At the time, I didn't know you could debate and lower the price. I blame myself for not knowing that.

On January 30th 2009, Cass Burch sold me an Automatic 2003 Jeep Sarah, that included four will drive and a hard top, with 30449 miles on it for a total of, including the DLR SVCS and sales tax, of 20893 dollars. If you don't include the warranty it would have been 19378 dollars. Kelly blue book says it's worth only 14,715.

After I bought the car, most of my friends at my squadron made fun of me for months. They knew all about cars and prices. Discovering the news of how I got ripped off, I was very upset. I couldn't stop thinking about it. The papers were signed and there was nothing I could do about it.

A few months later, I went back to Cass Burch and asked them why they ripped me off. The manager of the floor was very rude to me and told me to wait. After waiting 45 minutes I went up to him and asked if he could see me and he responded with "Can't you see I'm busy here?". So I talked to the Manager of the building. He insisted that he did not rip me off, and that he would have sold the same jeep to his brother.

I am disturbed that Cass Burch would sell an over price car to someone in the Military service. But, like I said, I blame myself for not knowing how to buy a car. It has been a year now and there is nothing I can do about it. Now I do have the experience of buying a car and the knowledge of hot not to get ripped off.
