I was looking to work from home so that i am able to look after my son who was four months old then. I came across these people who claim pay $10 for every vacation certificate redeemed and they know who to pay by the DID # on each certificate. I am the kind of person that only likes to work for legitimate employers who are legitimate with clients, therefore following research that i did on this site and with the BBB i did not find any complaints whatsoever at that time. This was back in March 2008. I can only guess they must be newer than they claim not to have any complaints at that time.

This company reeled me in to purchase the certificates from them in order to distribute. After them telling me that the average number of certificates redeeemed is 20% or slightly higher i did my maths and thought, hmmm, well they are legitimate and honest (i did my checking on them) with people so i can easily work from home and make a fair income.

C. L. Somer is one of the CEO's there and his wife.

I bought envelopes, stamps, the certificates, names and addresses and got to work. I have received two checks from them in total for $20 to date and felt i need to file a report here to warn other people about them that they are thieves and to beware anyone wanting to work for them from home only to discover i now see reports filed and they are not just ripping off potential employees, they are ripping off consumers too. OMG i feel terrible about this. Bad for the consumer and angry at this company.

I spent almost $800.00 on my credit card in 0rder to make $2000.00 for 20% of 1000 certificates mailed.

If there is a class action suit against this company for everyone to get their money back then i would be so grateful to be included. Please post the information in Ripoff. Thanks - I Got Conned too :-(

You Reap What You Sow

AUTHOR: Representative - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, April 04, 2009

I have used this company's certificates as give aways over the years. You are paid when the person or people you have given them to actually book a trip! So, if you have mailed out 100 and only 10 actually use the certificate. That is what you are paid on. So doing a mass mail out is an expense you incurred to market your business - just like the junk mail everyone receive. Not everyone is going to go for it. So I do not feel that this is a RIP OFF!! You have to market better and actually give to people you know who are willing to utilize the certificate or will actually go on the trip!

C&B Getaways is a Very Reputable Company

AUTHOR: Cameron Johnson - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, September 07, 2008

I answered an ad I saw in USA Today to earn money giving away vacation certificates in 2004. I started out just offering them to people I knew and some businesses I did business with. I started to receive small commission checks 30 days later. I then decided to contact other businesses in the manufactured home industry and received a very good response.

I sold over 20,000 certificates to these companies in 2005. In 2006 I received a total of $8535 in commissions. Add that to the $10,000 I received up front on the sale of the certificates at 50 cents each and I can say that C&B is out there to help people make money not rip them off. I am now selling certificates to other companies that finance nanufactured homes and I expect to earn over $12,000 in commissions in 2008.

This is not a get rich in 60 days program and you do have to get the certificates out to people, but when they are redeemed, C&B sends out 5 more with my DID number and I earn money from all those certificates as the customers give them to friends. I suggest you search the Internet for hundreds of other C&B distributors and email them and ask them how the program is working for them.

Don't expect to place 50,000 certificates on car windshields in parking lots and get any commissions. You do have to work a little harder than that, but I will bet that you will wait a long time before you see another distributor join you in your complaint against C&B Getaways

C & B Getaways is a legitimate company

AUTHOR: Lynette - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, September 07, 2008

My name is Lynette Cassel and I own Travel Saver in Lancaster, CA. My company travels thousands of C & B Getaway customers and in doing so, I have also traveled hundreds of C & B Getaways distributors or agents. I have spoken to these distributors as they explain that they are trying out the offer that they have been marketing. These agents tell me that they earn very good commissions simply by giving away vacation certificates that are redeemed thru C & B Getaways.

The complaint that the person filed against C & B Getaways never mentioned who they paid the $800 to but I would guess it was a company that sells names. That has nothing to do with C & B Getaways.

I have been a travel broker for over 15 years and I can assure you that people usually plan a vacation 6-10 months in advance. The complaint states they joined C & B Getaways in March of 2008. That is less than 6 months ago. How can this person not be sure that hundreds of the people they mailed the certificates to will not be using them next year? Who did they mail them to? I think that could be the answer as to how many will eventually redeem them.

I have heard nothing but good things from C & B Getaway customers and distributors.

#3 REBUTTAL Owner of company

From the President, C & B Getaways, Inc.

AUTHOR: Cbgetaways - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, September 06, 2008

It's unfortunate that we even have to issue a rebuttal to this type of vitriol. However, with the Internet, this distributor's outrageous and misleading comments can be seen by the world and it will not go unanswered.

Even though we have over 5,000 distributors, we know who this person is (she did not identify herself) and I have verified that she has never contacted us after signing up as a distributor to ask for advice, readily available assistance, or to express any dissatisfaction. My rebuttal will address each of her false statements and accusations.

We have been in business since 1999; members of the Better Business Bureau and licensed by the state of FL for 9 years. The BBB website shows how long a business has been a member, so the statement I can only guess they must be newer than they claim is totally false.

We have had a minimum of complaints during our 9 year membership and every complaint was answered and resolved satisfactorily in 48 hours or less. This often times included settling a complaint where the customer was not accurate in their statements, but in keeping with our 100% customer satisfaction guarantee, we agreed to settle in their favor. It appears that only after she was unhappy did she discover there have been complaints made against us. Why wasn't this found during her initial research? All BBB complaints have been there from the beginning of our membership. I'm not sure how she missed that when she did her initial investigation. Therefore, her last statement in paragraph 1 they claim not to have complaints is also false.

In paragraph 2, she states, The Company reeled me in. How is this possible? All of the program details are clearly spelled out on our website FreeHotelCertificates.com. A cautious person would have read the disclaimers along with the offerings. We specifically state, This is "NOT" a "Get Rich Quick Scheme"... It will enable you to start a continuous income flow for life with very little effort on your part Giving Away vacation certificates. All numbers and percentages are averages over a one-year period. These are not guarantees and in fact, many distributors don't hit the average. However, many go well above the average. The 20% she refers to is the average redemption rate Over A One-Year Period. This person states she joined in March, 2008. In fact she joined on 3/22/08 and posted her report on 8/4/08. That is slightly over 4 months. Her expectations were unreasonable for a 4-month period. Apparently she thinks if a person receives a vacation certificate they redeem it immediately and take a vacation.

Our ONLY guarantee to the distributor is that if they earn a commission they will be paid. There are no minimums, so if only one redemption comes in during a pay period (15 days), the distributor is paid. We met this guarantee with her, as she states she has in fact been paid $20.00 during her 4-month distributorship.

Paragraph 4 actually shows the mindset of this distributor. If she spent $800 to buy envelopes, stamps, and a mailing list, then she didn't follow any of our suggested methods of making money. We have NEVER told any distributor to MAIL the certificates to prospective customers so they can make a $10.00 commission. In fact, we have a Business Mailing Program designed to be mailed to businesses that buy them in quantity. They are used by the business as an incentive marketing tool to get new customers. We pay our distributors a 70% commission on every order generated from the mailing. If a company orders $1,000 worth of certificates, the distributor gets a $700.00 commission and is also paid the $10.00 commission when these certificates are redeemed. She chose to ignore this part of our program and spent 42 cents to mail ONE certificate to ONE person with the hopes of making a $10.00 commission.

The statement of ripping off consumers too is totally false. Every customer who requests a refund and follows the instructions for receiving a refund will be issued one. This is clearly stated on our vacation certificate and again on the cover letter the customer receives.

FINALLY, her last paragraph regarding a class action suit is very interesting. I looked through the Ripoff Report website and in the General Questions section on how to make a good Ripoff Report, it clearly states, The report should be relating an HONEST, FACTUAL, and IMPARTIAL story. Her report hardly qualifies as any of this.

The last part of the answer to the question: What makes a good Ripoff Report? states, REPORTING A FALSE STATEMENT CAN GET YOU SUED.

POSTED: Friday, September 05, 2008

Hello to All:

I have been a Distributor with C&B Getaways for several years and have always received all commissions due to me. Bud is a pleasure to work with and is willing to assist in any way possible.

There are two ways of making money: When the certificates are purchased by the businesses who use them as promotional items and also when the vacation is booked. Can't beat that!

A Satisfied Distributor,

Agnes

C&B Getaways Is Not A Scam!

AUTHOR: Oz - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, August 24, 2008

I am a distributor for C&B Getaways. I am very pleased with the money I have made with this company. The actual owner ( CEO ) of this company is Cheryl L. Somers and her husband; not the other way around as stated by the person who filed the complaint against them. They do have a good rating with the BBB, and yes they have some complaints also. They settle their complaints with honesty, and always go above and beyond for their distributors and customers. It's not the amount of complaints a company has, but how they settle them. I have made really good money with this company; it does take awhile for the money to constantly come in, but lets look at the company. They are company that distributes vacation certificates; not everyone is going to use a certificate; and the ones that do are not going to use them right away. When you give someone a certificate, they are not going to go home, pay the fee, and go on vacation right away! Customers might wait until the holidays to travel, or they might wait until next year. In regards to the Business mailing program , the money you make depends on where you send them, the amount, and what type of business you send them too. Again, the amount of money you recieve depends on time. If your patient and a little selective on who you distribute the certificate to , you will fair much better. What I mean about selective is, people who look like they go on vacation, do not give them to people under the age requirement, trust me they will toss them as soon as you hand it to them. To give an example :I distributed alot of them at a very popular classic car show, some at electronic shows, and so on. These places are gold mines; but again patience is everything in this business. Alot also has to do with where your located; if your location does not have a good turn out, then go somewhere that does. The company clearly states that this is not a get rich quick scheme ; if you expect the money to come in right away, then maybe this business is not for you!! I have found wonderful sucess, but again you have to be patient and creative. This company is honest, and they are always there to help. Just the money you save on buying the certificates from them shows there honesty; don't believe just me, try buying the paper and ink yourself, even with a top of the line copier, you'll get about 38 copies before the color ink goes out. This company really does want you to succeed, so be patient; a business of your own takes time, if you rush it, you will get nowhere. Hope this helps anyone interested in this business, to make a better decision.
