CBCS HAS had their hands on my comcast account...I did'nt even owe comcast money...They are liars, cheats, and possible phishers...
I'm concerned about my information being in their hands...Comcast has contacted them on my behalf four times telling them i donot owe comcast 1006.00 dollars..
It gets taken off my credit report which takes six weeks, then it reappears..this has costed me being denied credit..

Does anyone know of class action lawsuit..The workers are rude, they swear, yell..These guys need to be sued..seriously..
Comcast has even fired this company and no longer will do business with them..

For Lori

AUTHOR: J - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, October 05, 2006

I work for Account Recovery Inc. The accounts I collect are mostly medical.

We don't add interest to those and we don't collect on bills past their statutes. In our state, we are allowed to add interest only to certain accounts that are not medical.

All the complaints in here about other agencies doesn't mean all places are the same. We are a very small company, 7 collectors only. We're not out here to hurt or make people feel bad.

I do agree most(sic) there are a lot of collection agencies out there that do not follow the FDCPA. We are not one of them. Since most of our collections are medical bills, we don't have a lot of people calling and saying it's not them or that we have the wrong person.

We work with many people on payment plans since their children are sick. We're not all bad people.

And I like typing in all caps. I don't care if you don't like it. Don't read it. Is that all you can come up with, making fun of the way I type, because I work for a collection agency? I think you need to grow up. Are you supposed to be an adult? My 10 year-old nephew doesn't even act like that.
--------------------------------
See how much easier it is to read when it's typed correctly? Really, Lori, you would come across as a little more mature if you just followed the rules of internet postings and grammar.

AUTHOR: J - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 04, 2006

Lori, if collection agency's are so great and help people, why do you wait so many years to collection, is it to keep adding interest?

If you folks that work at collection agency could collection on a debt, you would send one letter, then sue. No, first you have to make up documents, lie and fine some one that doesn't know how to respond. There is no way any collection agency's help anyone but themselves.

Crimony Lori, why do you insist on yelling? You need to learn some proper cyber-etiquette...all caps is considered shouting.
I have followed some of the advice from Steve recently and succeeded in clearing some issues from my dear mother's credit reports. This is someone who knows what he is talking about. So unless you are an educated expert, and not a ding-bat needing something to do with so much time on her hands, I would suggest you put your keyboard to better use....like maybe swatting and killing those flies that keep buzzing out of your ears. Duh...

Dear Dumb Lori

AUTHOR: S.n. - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, September 29, 2006

Let's get one thing straight. I DO pay my bills and the times I HAVE been bothered by collection agencies was when they were looking for someone with the same or similar name and I was easy to find. I'm not saying that everyone on this site has paid their bills but I do know that people can fall on hard times and have problems. That does not give ANYONE the right to treat them like dirt. The fact that I was harassed by collection agencies when it didn't have anything to do with me made me a believer. When you are taking classes to learn about using the CAPS button, you might want to get in on some grammer and punctuation classes. And thank you Linda for asking the question we have all been dying to know...what agency DOES Lori work for?

YOU CAN SAY WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE ABOUT ME. YOU DONT KNOW ME. ALL IM SAYING IS NOT ALL COLLECTION AGENCYS ARE BAD. AND NOT ALL OF THEM ARE BREAKING THE LAWS. I UDNERSTAND THAT WE ALL HAVE PROBLEMS HERE AND THERE AND GO THROUGH HARD TIMES, BUT WE STILL HAVE TO PAY OUR BILLS NO MATTER WHAT IS GOING ON. AND ONCE AGAIN IF YOU WOULD HAVE PAID THE BILL TO THE ORIGINAL CREDITOR YOU WOULD NOT BE BOTHERD BY COLLECTION AGENCYS IN THE FIRST PLACE.

C'mon Guys, Give Poor Lori A Break!

AUTHOR: S.n. - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, September 28, 2006

She hasn't even figured out how to type on her keyboard yet. Perhaps if she took a class or two she would understand when to use the CAPS button and when to not use the CAPS button. You aren't going to get through to her. She's as swift as the guy who said we should all jump through hoops on OUR time to correct errors made by debt collectors.

I think I'll try that on the companies I work with: "Hey, if I make an error on billing you OR on paying you, just dig around until you find out what mistake I made and then fix it for me." I don't think so. I wouldn't be employed and I believe that collectors who can't do their jobs should not be employed either. Last year I sent three certified letters to different junk debt buyers to let them know the debts they were trying to collect were not mine, along with a a letter to a hospital to decided that the $25.00 my insurance carrier wrote off should be paid by me and put it on my credit report.

If I have to spend my time fixing these bozos mistakes, I intend to make sure I report them to AG's, DA's and anyone else I can find who will listen. But please do keep talking and keep the public informed, Steve. I'm listening.

That's right Lori, I'm not going anywhere!

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, September 28, 2006

Lori,

I have never been a debt collector, and never would be if it was the last job on earth. Debt Collecting is a real scummy profession nowadays because of all of the junk debt buyers attempting to collect on OOS debts.

You are right, I have a major problem with debt collectors. This is because it is hard to find one who does not use abuse debtors or alleged debtors, and/or violate state and federal laws.

How about attempting to collect on debts when you don't even have the right person! Anyone with a similar name will do, right? Yeah, make an innocent person spend time and money to defend against something they don't owe.

I am attempting to introduce legislation that requires employees of debt collection agencies be licensed and/or bonded, as well as the agency having to carry a large bond. This is way overdue. Then when you collectors have something personally to lose, you may learn how to act.

After all, who really wants drug addicts, criminals, and homeless people having access you all of our personal and financial information? I don't! There is currently very little accountability.

LORI, LORI, LORI.......

AUTHOR: Sherri - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, September 28, 2006

You silly wabbit, of course Steve slams collection agencies and junk debt buyers, as do many of us. Why? Because the consumer/debtor does not have a contract/business relationship with the collection agency/junk debt buyer, yet these entities feel as if they have a right to lie to, threaten, extort, and frighten people over an account that may not be legit (wrong person, out of stat, paid in full, or in the case of some, "imaginary", like Boyajian's 1992 Verizon bills, never mind Verizon did not exist until 2000).

Before you spout off "debtor" like it is a profanity, if you pay rent, have a phone, borrowed $5 from the schmuck in the next cubicle, then YOU are also one of those horrid "debtors" you have so much distain for.

Your turn, Steve...

Diane, FORGET the class action lawsuits! Just do this.

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 27, 2006

Diane,

Forget the class action lawsuits. The only winners are the lawyers. You end up with nothing.

First, you need to stay off the phone. NEVER speak to any debt collector on the phone. It will never do anything positive for you. It almost always makes things worse.

Always do everything in writing, and by certified mail, return reciept requested. Put the certified# on the letter itself and keep a copy for your records.

If the credit bureau says it was "verified", you have the right under the FCRA to actually see any verification provided.

By the means above, You need to send the collion agency a REQUEST FOR VALIDATION, where you clearly dispute the debt and DEMAND to see whatever you allegedly signed to create the "debt" as well as a full account history and itemization of charges. Also demand proof that they are licensed as debt collectors in thier state as well as in yours. Then demand proof that they are legally entitled to collect said debt, and if they say they own it, require proof of ownership and proof of payment including price paid and to whom.

This will get rid of them. Good luck.
