When going on-line to search for a purchaser of used cell phones the website "offered" $162 for a phone that powers up and works correctly.  After sending  the phone to them and their "inspection" they offered less than $25.  There was nothing wrong with the phone and I included an Otter Box case and glass screen cover.  I had a local offer of $45 and should have taken it.  I was out of town during the time period for refusing their offer and had no other recourse.

"Like New" confusion.

AUTHOR: Tyg - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 17, 2016

While im sure you took care of your device it did not meet the definition you chose to enter it as. This is a very common mistake. Like new means like right out of the box new. Not even a dink or sctratch. Remember these people have to examine your phone with a sharp eye. Meaning they are using a magnifying glass and checking for ANY flaw that would end up devaluing the electronic device. So even one tiny flaw will end up dropping what they offer you. To YOUR eyes it looked fine, but upon further examination something was found that made it not meet the catagory you thought it should. Its NOT a ripoff its a difference in what YOU consider damaged and what they consider to be a flaw. Perhaps in the future you will keep your trades local. Its always better then sending it off because when you do they are not going to send the device back to you. Once its in thier hands its thier item and you have no choice but to accept what they offer. Also keep in mind its not like trading in a used video game. Its a item that they wish to sell and profit off of. Meaning that they want the highest quality they can get. In this instance your device did not meet the criteria of the catagory YOU said it was in and nothing more. You also may be forgetting that there were other hands on your device BEFORE they even got a chance to check it out. I can promise you that whomever it was shipped through did not take the care with your package that you would assume they would. Every package delivery service treats each and every box as something they can stand on as they load it into the plane or truck. So it could have been damaged in transit and when they company you sent it to examines it, well it doesnt meet the criteria for the intial quote. The internet is an excellent resource but sometimes its not wise to use it for everything. This is one of those instances.
