After looking into several available home security services in my area I choose Smith Security, monitored by Central security Group. I was sold the line that they were a local company and had the best monthly rates for the service. I looked into the rates and they were correct. I was quoted and promised $19.95 per month whereas all the other companies started at $29.99 a month. I actually pay $30.22 a month because there were "hidden" fees that were in the contract. It mush have been invisible ink and not transfered to my copy of the contract.

I had a pre-existing alarm installed in my house but it was outdated, the sales person promised my a entirely new system to include a second key pad for another entry as my house is large. What was done; I did have two keypads installed but with previous wiring and system, one key pad had to be replaced already because it was faulty and the door on it keep falling, this new key pad is now having the same issues. Neither key pad allows me to temporarily bypass any zone as this feature simply does not work.

My window and door sensors kept reporting false alarms and when the repairman came to fix this problem I realized that all the outdated and dilapidated hardware had been re-used. I called several times to have them repaired but instead I was told to just bypass the faulty zone as nobody breaks in windows anyways and the motion sensor would catch them if they did.

On a daily basis I receive an alarm on the house due to motion sensor activation. I have talked to them and apparently its either a ghost or according to them a large flying insect that "must" be in my home. those sneaky buggers! I have called on this issue and today I have been informed my warranty is now out of date, as I had the system installed three (3) months ago. They would be happy to send a repairman for $90.00.

Bottom line: I have an ineffective/defective alarm system that is going to cost me $368.28 more then my contract stated and for more money they will come fix my system for it to remain defective until the contract is up. Bottom line, I'm paying $1087.92 the next three years for a lawn sign and some stickers, not to mention the piece of mind that if I continue to receive daily false alarms the local sheriffs department is going to start fining me for the police response.

Thank you CSG!
