I originally had Embarq for my phone company until out of the blue in October I went online to pay my bill and surprise we are now CenturyLink. I then noticed my bill was about five or six dollars more. Upon further investigation I saw I had three charges for directory assistance on my first line and one chrge for a call trace on my second line.

This would be all well and good accept we haven't been staying at that residence for almost a year. My wife and I have been staying to doors down in my father in-laws place since last Christmas and have been just keeping the utilities on for when we return.

I called CenturyLink to discuss this and was told these services were charged by a third party and they would put a hold on them until they could investigate. So I deducted the $5.90 from my bill and paid the rest. I go to pay my bill this month and I'm being charged late fees on what I deducted and charged for fourteen more directory assistance calls.

When I called and asked to speak with a supervisor he told me the calls were definitely coming from my phone and I had to get the cops or a Lawyer to be able to get a call log of calls coming from my house that they didn't have that information but he would send me the list of numbers that were asked for by the directory assistance calls.

I went to the house and looked and the dust was still on the phone, it hadn't been touched. I hit redial and it dialed the last number I dialed over six months ago back to my father in-laws house, not 411. As far as the line that had the call trace, it didn't even have a phone or anything hooked up to it.

It doesn't make any sense and they aren't willing to get off their a** to find out what is going on. All they are going to do is try to extort the money out of me. No trouble until CentryTel  takes over. I think I'm in for a long haul with this company.
