I received a letter with check enclosed in the amount of $4750.00. The check was from BNY Mellon Trust of Delaware, Newark, Delaware Fidelity Brokerage Services LLC. I believe this is some type of scam. The letter was dated 8/5/08 Claim number LE003010ZQ stating the following:

We are pleased to advise you that you are one of the second category winners of a lottery draw held on May 29th 2008.

This group drawing was made for all one time participants of the national/state lottery/sweepstakes in the past 5 years, it was tagged Compensation Draw. A ticket with the serial number 23887954QL attached to your name drew the lucky winning numbers 68-79L-55-14-31.

You are therefore entitled to a lump sum of US $250,000.00 (certified check).

Enclosed is a check in the amount of US $4750.00 which has been deducted from your winnings. The purpose of this check is for the payment of Canadian Non Resident Government Service Tax (GST) Payable to the Canadian Tax Office as stated below.
