Upon my initial consultation with this doctor I felt a little "creeped out" due to some of the questions I was asked. I went in seeking help for ADD, which had been affecting my performance in my nursing classes. After taking three different tests, I was asked additional questions such as: What is your sexual preference? How much money do you have saved up? How many sexual partners have you had? I felt that these questions were pretty irrelevant and had little or nothing to do with the ADD screening process. Being naive, I ignored it and went back the following week.

At my second visit we discussed additional testing, which I declined considering I am a self-pay patient and had already spent $490 on testing at my first visit. The third visit went the same way, except I was basically told that he could not help me unless I take these four additional tests, which would have been another $530 total, plus $200 for the med follow up. I told the receptionist that I could not afford these tests, nor could I afford to come in once a week anymore for ADD treatment/testing. She went and spoke with Dr. Covert for a few minutes, and then came back and replied with "Dr. Covert said you are supposed to be starting a new job soon."

Although I want to see a psychiatrist on a regular basis, once a week seemed a little excessive for my situation. I could understand coming in once a week if I was mentally unstable, but I am a busy college student. Also, he kept writing me temporary prescriptions, e.g. 7 days worth (even after finding a med that was affective) It was very evident he did this so I would have to keep coming back in and paying $200 each time!! I was blindly being ripped off, while placing my trust in what is supposed to be an ethical healthcare professional.
