Charlotte Gothard Lying Thief dayton Tennessee

My grandparents poodle passed away and they were looking for a new one to love. I happened to find the perfect one on puppyfinder. The listing was for a black miniature female toy poodle for $800. I told my mom and she let my grandmother know. They contacted Charlotte Gothard and wanted to set up to purchase the puppy. Charlotte demanded my grandmother take a picture of a check for a deposit of $300 and send her the picture. My grandmother isn’t tech savvy, so my mother took the picture and was the primary go between. My mom sent the picture of the check and spoke to Charlotte. Charlotte seemed like a nice and open woman, and stated her puppies were her babies and wanted them to have a happy home. She stated she was going to hold the puppy until she was 9 weeks because that was when my parents could travel to pick her up. In the mean time she needed to take the puppy to the vet and have her cleared.

She sent videos and pictures throughout the week, getting my poor grandparents excited for a new baby to love. Then she started texting and calling my mom with strange issues. One day it was the check was not there and she wasn’t going to hold on to the dog for them because the check wasn’t there. My mom stated there must have been some confusion because she thought that all Charlotte wanted was the picture of the check, because she hadn’t given an address or anything to send it to. Charlotte demanded it be overnighted or she was going to sell the puppy that day, she had already turned down two more offers for it. My family paid $60 to overnight the check. the next day Charlotte started texting and said that the puppy was sick and couldn’t leave her care, that she needed to be checked again. Then she text my mom again and stated that the check was a personal check and she didn’t do personal checks. Well, you would think that her seeing the picture of the check before would have been when she might say something, huh? My mom bent over backwards trying to please her. Then Charlotte said we would need to bring 800 in cash because she wasn’t cashing the check, but would give it back in person when we got there to pick up the puppy.

On the MORNING that my parents were about to leave to pick up the puppy Charlotte called and said that she was keeping it. When my horrified mom asked why, this woman went into a rant about how she would only part with the puppy for $200 more dollars. My mom said that they would pay it, so long as my grandparents could have the puppy. Then she demanded MORE money! When my mom questioned why she wanted more Charlotte went off and said they couldn’t have the puppy, and my mom could tell my grandmother it was all her fault. This horrible, vile woman has kept the check and my grandparents are left heartbroken and crying because this was their baby. They had looked at videos, pictures, and had a name picked out. They had new toys and everything ready for her. Then this disgusting person has the nerve to rip it away from them. I think there is a special place for her, but we can’t really do anything other than share so other people don’t suffer.

Charlotte Gothard of Dayton, TN is a lying, cheating, thief that does nothing more than play games with people and hurt them. I had read another review on this site and my mom questioned Charlotte about it. Charlotte swore up and down that this woman was lying, she had more positive reviews and was a good person. I wish we had listened. Don’t do business with her.
