Charter Communications ability to provide any type of service is horrible. I've moved them to the top of my list on companies to never deal with again. I was an existing customer with basic cable and high speed internet. I called to have the charter bundle with digital cable, phone, and internet installed. That was a few months ago.

First they tried to schedule an appointment to install the internet. I had to tell them 4 different times that I already had the internet and they didn't have to do anything. Several calls later I actually was able to cancel this appointment.

Next for the cable. Two techs came out and tried to plug in a cable box. Neither could do it and just left the box and cables laying on the floor. Both tried to say it was the TV or some other excuse. Then they said someone in St. Louis "dropped the ball" and didn't enter the correct information so the signals were never coming over. This was the outcome every time. I called the "customer service" dept and talked to 4 differernt people and spent over any hour total on the phone. Each time I was forced to reschedule and take more time off work. One appointment was a no show.

Finally the last guy was able to get the cable box plugged into the TV-real hard. So far it took 4 days off work waiting for them to get this far and over a month had passed. I was going back and forth between local techs, local office people, and the useless St. Louis people. The phone was still not working. It took a different tech guy. More time off work.

The first guy installed everything and then was told by St. Louis that the verification wasn't done by the us yet and Verizon wouldn't release the number. That verification would take a few days so I'd have to reschedule. Next appointment was in a couple weeks. Problem was we had done the verification two weeks earlier. Called and did the verification again. Waited for the next appt. to come. That guy came out and installed everything. Once again was told by St. Louis that the verification hadn't happened. He pulled everything out and left.

I got a hold of the local office again. She told me the verification was in the computer and that she couldn't understand why they wouldn't give the tech the info. Another appt. in two weeks. This time the guy installed the equipment and guess what. He had the verification but couldn't give us our same number for some reason. I was told that he could keep everything installed, give me a temporary phone number, and I'd have to call back in two weeks to have the number flipped back to my old number. OR, he could take it all back out and come back in two weeks and install it then. I told them to leave the equipment in and I'd call to have the number flipped.

Called a day later than they told me to. I thought they could use the extra day. After going through 3 customer service people I finally got a guy to (after being on hold for 20 minutes) to.........schedule an appointment for someone to come out. I stopped him right there and said that all the stuff was in. They just had to give me my phone number back. He instantly told me it would happen the next day after 8pm. Only 2 days late I guess. I'm still waiting for my old number.

On top of all this, I read on the website to just call charter for cable cards to have them installed in my new Tivo. Guess what. My area just happens to be out. The service guy got a whole case and they're not for charter. That's the only reason I have their stupid cable box. No one has any idea when more will be in. They have no clues. They can't even mail them from another area for some reason. I was told to call back every day and see if they're in. It could take a couple months though. A couple months! Are you kidding me.

Why does their website make it sound so easy to get a cable card when they don't even have them available and no idea on anything about them. One lady even told me that charter didn't have cable cards at all. Even though the law now requires them to hand them out if a customer asks. She expected to see them sometime this year. The law went into effect last year. Now my Tivo is in one room and my cable box is in another since they won't work together. Apparently you can't have the best of both worlds in Charter's eyes. I think they hold the cards back because with the cards they can't sell you pay per view shows. With the box they can. It's their way of trying to squeeze a little more money out of you.

So, since it's been months and my service still isn't done, I'd say their "one phone call" commerical is full of s**t. This company doesn't have a clue what is happening between the retards at St. Louis that apparently control the universe----but with a blindfold on and the service techs---outsourced, not even charter employees, and the local charter office. There is definately no communication between cable, internet, and phone departments. Their slogan should be, "Charter, we'll pass the buck to the next dept.....We know you'll hold". Charter sucks more than anything.

Once my deal is done I'm going to a dish and never coming back. I can't believe charter is in business with all the wasted time and money they go through for what should be a one trip, one phone call deal. Do not use them. If they are in your area, go to Dish Network or Direct TV. Even the old bunny ears on the TV is probably better than charter is now.

We won't talk about years ago when they "installed" my internet and after 3 trips and 8 hours they only managed to crash my computer hard drive and leave. I bought my own modem, a new computer since mine was fried, and did it in 10 minutes with a phone call. These people are worthless.
