My daughter received a mastercard gift card tittled (A GIFT FOR YOU) for Christmas and being the saver that we have tought her to be she puts it in a safe place along with a few other department store gift cards. Well little did we know that the banks have a RIPOFF (They take your money without you knowing) built rite in to these so called mastercard gift cards. If you keep them longer than 12 months they start STEALING your money, and you dont even know it. The short story is they all take your money, but the department store cards were glad to credit it back when I called them. Charter One Bank on the other hand explained to me when the card was purchased that person was agreeing to their terms and conditions that clearly state we can STEAL YOUR MONEY after 12 months and there is nothing that you can do about it because we call it an administration fee.

How could you not have known this? It's public knowledge that gift cards start applying those "convenience" charges after a year of non use. I'm assuming you didn't read the back of the card properly. Why wasn't the gift card used anyway??? This is most definitely NOT A RIPOFF!!!!
