I have a loan with Chase Bank. I did not know that I have been charged $132 a month for a payment protector plan (ppp) that I never authorized. Both Chase and PPP believe that I signed up over the phone when called by a telemarketer. I have asked for proof of authorization, which neither Chase nor PPP will provide.I have asked for a refund of the payments, which total $8900 over 68 months. The charge was hidden at the bottom of the bill. I only look the top of the bill for the payment amount. I do not look further since I do not have or use a Chase credit card on this account. When I try to resolve the matter, I am passed back and forth between Chase and PPP. Each company say the other should be handling the matter.

68 months?

Question is do you not look at your statements? $132 charge a month is quite high to be over looked. My feeling is that you are falling on hard times and are trying to recover the money you spent. And yes you most likely signed something either in the mail/phone to have that put on your account..

Payment Protector

Here is the deal. I handle claims such as this on a daily basis. Here is what most likely happened. One day you went out to your mailbox and you received a check. Usually they range from $10-$25 you failed to read the small print and you went and cashed it thereby authorizing the company to begin billing your card when you failed to call and cancel within the first 30 days of service. So in all truth you did indeed authorize the transaction and the bank did not have to refund you. You had what is considered a dispute with the merchant and you should have contacted them and asked for a refund. 9 times out of 10 they will issue credits to you. My suggestion is when you check your mail and receive a check you should probably read all of the paperwork that comes with it.

Me Too!

The same weird company charged my credit card for 12 months! They say that they are Chase and Chase says that this company is not. They told me that they would send me a tape of me "authorizing" the charges. I waited 30 days and never received the tape. So I called and they said that they have the tape but are not allowed to send it. They completely contradicted themselves. I never accept solicitor calls, and I wasn't even living at the phone number that they called at that time. I am beyond frustrated with both Chase and this other company; I absolutely do not have the sanity or time to call them on it again. Chase did say that they allow this company to contact their customers; I'd like an explanation for that.

Chase refunds the money they stole from me!

AUTHOR: Jean - (U.S.A.)

After many, many many phone calls to both Chase Bank and Payment Protector Plan, and always being told the same thing--that they could not investigate my problem since it was too far back, I did get a letter telling me that I had accepted the plan on August 8 of 2002. I called Chase once again and spoke to a woman in customer service. I insisted that I wanted proof of authorization and that my $8900 should be refunded. I also said that there are more than 250 or so complaints about Chase on Ripoffreport.com. She replied that the amount was $5600. I said, ok, give it back to me. I have been a victim of fraud and deceit. She said, "You will have the money refunded. to you. " I hung up thinking, "Yeah, right. And the moon is made of cheese."

Today I got my new Chase statement. Lo and behold, the full amount of the overpayment was subtracted from my balance. I am floored by this. It amazes me that this one customer service had the power to accomplish what no other person would even try to do.

Meantime, I have gotten a home equity loan to pay off the balance of my loan. Good riddance, Chase.
For those of you who have been victims of this fraud, I say persist, persist, persist. I called Chase at least 15 times until I got the response I deserved.
