I had a credit card with Chase Bank my credit limit was $500 it than went up to $1506.00 with interest and fees they than sold my debt to Chase Bank, USA, NA than to Pinnacle Credit Services. I paid Pinnacle Credit Services the full amount and did not take the settlement offer. This debt was paid in full April 4, 2008. All three of these companies are still on my credit report and I have a letter from Pinnacle stating the debt was paid in full. I have disputed the debts with the credit reports but the three companies refuse to take it off. I was on hold with Chase all day yesterday and they said that Pinnacle is suppose to remove all three. I spoke to Pinnacle and they told me they can only remove their's and have no say to remove the other companies. Any advice please let me know the three companies are really hurting my credit score.

Chase and Chase Bank are the same so I am not sure exactly what happened there except that perhaps it was a change in account numbers or something.

When Chase sold off the account they put a "Charge-Off" on your credit report. So if it is listed with a Charge-Off status and $0 balance it is a valid listing. Remember this is called a Credit History for a reason.

Without knowing the exact wording the 2 Chase accounts have it is impossible to say if they are valid or not. But if for this one account they are both are Charge-Offs, one is invalid and must be removed. If one just has a $0 balance and is something like an account number change then it is not hurting your report.

What agreement do you have from Pinnacle BEFORE you paid them the money? Unless it was a statement that they would remove their account then as long as the item says PAID and balance due of $0 it is a valid listing. But note even if you do have an agreement that says they will remove theirs, that does not remove the original Charge-Off from Chase. They have zero, zip, no control over Chase so they were correct about that.

If any of these lines do not show a $0 balance you have a valid dispute with the Credit Reporting Agencies. If they are valid you still may be able to get at least the Pinnacle item removed. Wait about 3-6 months and put in a dispute to the Credit Reporting Agencies for the Pinnacle item. Most likely Pinnacle will not respond because it is paid and it will be removed. However, this is independent of the Charge-Off from Chase, and this same trick tends not to work with original creditors. The good news for you is that as time goes on this has less of an effect, and while not having the listing would be best, having a paid charge-off is much better than an unpaid one.
