I first encountered a problem with Chase when my credit limit was lowered for absolutely no reason. I had never paid the account late. I even made sure that I paid online so I would not miss a payment. I have paid no creditor late in over 14 years and proud of it! I contacted Chase, spoke with a representive (location: somewhere in a 3rd world country where they don't speak very good English).

They stated that they "randomly" inspect credit to determine credit limits. When they could not give me what I felt was a legitimate reason, I asked them to close the account. On my next billing they had increased my interest rate from 12% to 24.74%!! I was furious! I concacted the wonderful representatives of India who gave me some B.S. scripted response. In other words... if you don't play our way... you'll pay the price. They make it almost impossible to pay the card off at that rate.... what a ripoff!!!
