Waiter was decent. However after people who came in after my Family of 4 received their food first, and we still waited about 20 minutes for our appetizers, even after asking for them we became concerned. Our concerns were legitimate, when the entrees and appetizers arrived simultaneously. We told them that we were no longer interested in the appetizers, which they took away. Also initially, the appetizers that we ordered, Spinach dip, was out of supply. So we ordered calamari instead. After we ate, our waiter explained the reason that the appetizer was late coming was due to the limitation of frying equipment. I told him that our party need compensation for the.inconvenience. He asked what we wanted. I told him that comping the desserts would suffice. 5 minutes later the Manager. John Garcia came to our table and introduced himself as the Manager. I asked him what was it the waiter told him and he said that the appetizers came out with the entrees. While he was speaking to my Family and I, his attitude was aloof, as he stood there glaring at us with hand on his hip. He asked me what we wanted. I reiterated that he could comp our desserts. Looking disgusted he said I removed he calamari that we no longer wanted from the check as though he did us a huge favor, and he said that he can comp1 dessert for the 4 of us. I told him that I didn't think that his solution was consistent with Cheese Cake policy. Furthermore, I told him that he may think we are trying to hustle him or something but he was wrong. I further told him thanks but no thanks. We will pay for own dessert. Which as it turns out was only 1 anyway. That's primarily because they were out of Strawberry shortcake and warm apple crisp, which we wanted to order. I tipped the waiter decently in spite of the obvious poor management and lack of professionalism of Jeff Garcia. Food good, waiter decent. Management, poor.

The customer was greedy and his request for (4) free desserts was inappropriae. I would have been humiliated had I been sitting at that table with him. Customers like this are what makes being a restaurant manager a miserable job.

I received a telephone call from the Cheesecake Factory corporate offices concerning my complaint. Fortunately they agreed, the ball was dropped big time. Regardless of what so called anonymous" third parties who were not there say, my complaint is with merit.
The truth is, as I said before I refused the comp dessert and as a matter of principle paid for our dessert. The Corporate offices totally agrees that that how this was handled was not consistent with Cheesecake Factory policies. Furthermore, attitude matters when dealing with the public, this especially after you have dropped the ball, which BTW “Robert” the so-called policy expert conveniently left out of his absurd rebuttal. Furthermore, I didn’t want 4 desserts, not sure where that came from, especially since only 1 of us wanted dessert which I paid for.
But as I said, the corporate offices of Cheesecake Factory are making this right. And I am happy that they reached out to do so. Doubtful they would ever hire a so-called self-described “policy expert” like Robert who makes assumptions and posts it as though it is fact.

Customer Greedy...

The food may have been good, the waiter may have been decent, and you think the managment may have been poor, but the CUSTOMER was GREEDY.
You had an "inconvenience" of not having an appetizer. It's an appetizer...GET OVER IT.
They took it off of the bill, the waiter explained the reason. MOST people would be satisifed with that. After all things happen...right? But not you. You wanted "compensation", but not just any compensation would do. You wanted 4 free deserts(about $32) just because you didn't get to eat some fried seafood before your meal...that you said was good.
No wonder he looked "disgusted", and no surprise that one of the first words out of your mouth was to try and downplay the feeling you were trying to scam them.
The fact that they were willing to comp one, is quite generous considering the circumstances. But in your mind it was an all or nothing so you said never mind. I guess that is so as you re-tell this story you can always end with the line..they didn't give you ANY compensation.
I told him that I didn't think that his solution was consistent with Cheese Cake policy
- Really so as a "policy expert" can you please point out where in their policy you are entitled to 4 free deserts for not getting the appetizer you ordered.
