I completed a "Chem-Dry-JD's Chem-Dry" mystery shop on 01/05/2012.As instructed, I completed the necessary survey and paperwork and even purchased the, required additional U.S. Postal Service Delivery Confirmation, with the understanding and assurance that I would be reimbursed for this expense as well.To date, I have not been paid/reimbursed for anything.  My total out of pocket is $193.70.

I waited the appropriate 30-60 days to pass and when I did not receive payment, I inquired via email with the scheduler several times in (January and) March.  The scheduler, (Julie B), assured me that payment is on its way.  The reviewers missed the March billing cycle, so I should receive payment via a check sometime before the end of April.  (This was in March.)

Since then, I have repeatedly emailed the scheduler in April and have not had any response.  I also emailed, the parent company and have not received a response from them either.Today, I called, "MysteryShop.org" who informed me that they do not have any affiliation with Franchise Compliance.  I then telephoned, "Harris Research Inc." at (435) 755-0099, who claims they cannot help me receive my payment. They are the company who hires Franchise Compliance to have the "shops" conducted.  They pay Franchise Compliance.  However, Franchise Compliance, is keeping the payments and not paying the "shoppers".

What can I do to ensure I am paid my out-of-pocket expenses for completing this mystery shop?  How can we stop this from happening to others?  To date, Franchise Compliance is still soliciting for these shops to be completed. There is no telephone number to call them.  The only correspondence available is via email and they are no longer responding to my inquiries about my being paid.

Do you have anything in writing from them?

You must have something in writing that constitutes your agreement with the company that hired you to shop Chem-Dry. Take your written agreement and scrutinize it for payment terms. If you can show you were hired by X (whichever company that actually hired you), take them to small claims court. This won't get you big bucks, but it will get you your reimbursement if you can show you were hired.

You don't need an attorney for small claims, you can file the suit yourself. Be aware, if you do this, you probably won't get any more jobs from them. But then again, why do you want to do a job for a company that won't pay you and it actually costs you money to perform?
