My son had told me a friend of his had been told by a manager to watch his step. Walmart ( at this location) needed to get rid of 25 full time employees.
Tuesday my son ( he has a clean record) went to work at Walmart. His fiance lives with us & works there as well. Both are full-time workers. She also was on the job. They went on break together which I have been told they have been doing so for years. She was there almost 6 years. He over 3. Her record had a blot on it for an untidy station 1 time. They fired her. It was shock & awe time. My son was so upset he clocked out but was told he was being given some sort of day off to "think about it". They were scheduled off on Thursday.
My son dressed, went to work today ( Friday) & his badge did not work. Even though he had nothing against him until this they really according to my son did not give him a reason. They said give us your badge & discount card. You're fired!
Now both are out a job & I am on disability. This is so stressful! I cannot understand how Walmart can do employees so dirty. My son also attends ITT Tech & they both worked in electronics so they know their stuff about electronics. They are no slouches either. They both planned when they graduate to marry & find better jobs but not ready for at least a year to start looking or qualify for better jobs.
Can anything be done about this?

#3 UPDATE Employee
D-Day it is

Yes, your son had a D-day... That's all there is to it. Regardless of it's fairness, what do you think you're going to do? Sue walmart? Good luck with that one.
The sad truth is information was not given to him correctly, or he did not understand it. The process is complete and cannot be reversed.

Are You Getting The Whole Story?

The "day off" your son received is called a "D-day". When an employee receives a D-day, they take their next scheduled work day off (with pay), and are suppose to write a plan detailing what they plan to do to improve their performance and keep their job. D-days are only issued as a last resort, after coaching for improvement has failed, or for a very serious offense.
I doubt you are getting the entire story from your son or his girlfriend.

maybe one of them will do a story about it. By exposing Walmart on T.V. it might get both of them their jobs back, right? Believe it or not, companies can fire employees for any reason, or no reason at all. Some employees are fired for uncovering & exposing illegal & unethical business practices by their employers, and these employers get away with it!
