I have been running ads for Chitika since 2009 (When Yahoo Closed their Publisher Services) with marginal success at best.
Yesterday, I received a letter that my account had been suspended. I thought for sure it was a spam email trying to phish for my username and password, but after evaluating the link structure in the email, I quickly realized that this was a real email from Chitika.
I immediately called customer service and was directed to a voice mail. Tried again a bit later, and it went to the same ladies voice mail, so I figured I would send them a quick email through their website.
The next day, I got basically a blurb saying that I was producing Fraudulent Clicks to increase revenue which was a complete fabrication. I have never clicked on any of the Ad's on my sites. Further, they stated that they could not reactivate my account and any money generated would be refunded to the advertisers.
Also, they showed no proof or no further explaination.
Seems to me they have a problem with their "system" I cannot control who clicks ads, so if some "yahoo" decided to click haphazardly, I get banned and lose any money I earned by showing their ads on my website. (It is a candy wrapper forum with over 10,000 page views per day.)
Anyway, it is not a huge lose to me, but it could be devastating for someone who relies only on making money on their website.
So Publishers beware.

Hi Josh,
Actually, that is not a standard practice. If a publisher gets "click bombed" or some insensitive person with no regard to advertisers or publishers make clicks, major networks like Google Adsense and Lijit networks have security measures in place. They simply don't count them. That why in Google adsense, it always says estimated earnings.
Chitika, is in the wrong here and is not being honest of their lack of being able to protect their publishers. I stand by my ripoff report of chitika.com because I know I didn't make any false clicks and Chitika accusing me of doing so is, quite frankly, slander.
The service from Chitika is a slap in the face to medium sized publishers.
