Listed a 1978 International Scout II on ebay and described it as needing only a bouple of small things to be completely restored.
Once I go the vehicle to a mechanic, he told me that the vehicle would need to be sand-blasted and undercoated before ANY work would be worth doing. It is completly rusted underneath. The bushings are so rotted that an alignment is impossible. Needs at least 10 hours of labor just to do a brake job and alignment.
Vehicle listed as mostly restored. Based on that I spent $4,500.oo for a vehicle that will need thousands just to get to the level described in the ad.
Refused to resolve in an amicable way. Or to refund some money to offset costs of work needed.

Bought Vehicle as is..

We sold our 1978 International Scout on e-bay. discribed as a work in progress..we listed the repairs we did to the vehicle..The buyer came from Alabama to New Hampshire by air. Came to house, took a quick look at it and drove away..They called sometime later(don't remember how long after) to tell us of the problems they found. We said sorry but we sold "as is". They wanted us to give back some monies for the repairs..We said no because even with the repair bills they will have, it was still worth the $4500 they paid for it..We would have never bought a used vehicle without first having a mechanic look at it. They took us to court months later and the case was dropped. We never said anything that was not true about the vehicle. We are sorry they feel that they were ripped-off but that was not the case
