christian brothers plumbing took advantage of my girlfriend who assumed the name "christian brothers" ment a fair price for the work performed. phoenix, Arizona

Christian Brothers were called to fix the service line from the water meter to the house. When the plummber arrived he started digging to try and find the leak, and insisted it would be easy to fix. After digging for about an hour both at the water meter where the ground was saturated, he was unable to find the leak. While discussing the water leak I suggested that the service line should be replaced as repairing it would only likle be a temporary fix. He agreed. 

He then proceeded to give an estimate to replace the line. The estimate was for over $2000.00 for the 30 foot run of 3/4" copper line from the water meter to the house. I thougth to myself this is outrageous. The house is a rental house and the occupants were worried about paying a big water bill. My girlfriend authorized the work to avoid paying the tech about $250.00 for the service call and the digging.

 The tech came the next morning to replace the line. The renters were home that day and reported that the job was completed in about 4-5 hours. Not being a plummer I asked around if the price for the work was reasonable and found that from at least three sources the job should of been closer to $600.00. The plumbing company that I inquired flat out told me that my girlfriend was taken advantage of.

While in a grocerey store shortly after that a retired lady told me how the christian brothers were called to her house to  snake the sewer line. A tech came and presented an estimate of $400.00 to clean the line. She refused the proposal the tech offerred, but had to pay $135.00 for the service call. She went to Home Depot and rented a snake for $40.00 that fixed all her problems.

I not the only individual that thinks the christian brothers are ripp-offs. My employer, two different plumming companies, and an eldderly widow in a grocerey store.
