I am furious.  I have a 2008 Dodge Avenger which was purchased brand new in 2008.  I pay $477.06 per month for my car payment.  At 38,000 miles I noticed Blisters on my spoiler and white dots starting to appear on my car.  I have the expensive "pay extra for me" Inferno Red Metallic Paint.  Almost $500 additional on my sticker.  When I noticed the blistering I took it to the local dealership assigned to take care of us Dodge owners since they closed down the dealership I bought the car from.  I had the standard 3 year 36,000 mile factory warranty and also purchased the Chrysler Extended Warranty from Chrysler that is supposed to be "bumper to bumper" for 5 years or 60,000 miles.

Long story short after several attempts at the dealership complaining about the paint, they tried to tell me the spoiler was after market (It is on my original window sticker and was factory installed).  Anyway they (the Jeep dealership) sent me to their body shop manager who inspected my paint and pointed out to me this rash looking thing that is all over my entire car.  He said it's a factory defect in the paint and everywhere this rash looking stuff is will eventually do the same thing as the paint on my spoiler.

Further the front of my hood appears to be rusting under the paint and that is raised up and blistering. All of this information is supposed to have been passed along to the Chrysler Representative that was supposed to be calling me over a month ago.  I now have 42,000 miles on my car and I haven't traveled anywhere but local and still no call from Chrysler.  My entire car needs to be repainted.  I have 3 years of payments left on the car still owing over $14,000.00.  I am getting the run around and no response or yes'd to death.

I came home one day to a voice mail with a garbled name and the only two words I made out of the entire message was Dodge and then a couple of seconds paint.  No Name No Number to call back.   I went back to the dealer 2 weeks ago he said I will get right on it and have them call you, I am still waiting for that call.  We also own a Dodge Dakota Extended Cab pick up truck that my son purchased in 2005 it is a 2001 and was already missing most of the top coat on the hood when he bought it.  So that was only 4 years old and completely peeled from the hood and around the top of the bed when my son purchased it.  We bought the truck from my son to pull my husband's boat.

Obviously this is not a new problem to Chrysler/Dodge as I found 34 pages of complaints about the paint on line.  There are also 34 complaints about the 2008 Dodge Avenger (Paint Issues).  The dealer told me he can replace my hood and paint it without authorization from Chrysler because the hood is aluminum and they are having problems with them pitting and rusting from underneath and that Chrysler has admitted this issue.  But my entire car is starting to peel, what am I supposed to do.  I take excellent care of my car it has never been to a car wash with brushes my husband uses top of the line car wash soap and have even bought the Mopar car wash and wax products.

I WANT MY CAR PAINTED FROM TOP TO BOTTOM, I HAVE WAY TOO MUCH TIME LEFT ON MY LOAN AND HAVE SACRIFICED FOR THE PAST 3 YEARS PAYING IT AS IT IS BECAUSE I WANTED A NICE CAR.  I AM ON SOCIAL SECURITY DISABILITY AND ONLY RECEIVE $954 A MONTH AND $477.06 OF THAT GOES TO PAY FOR THIS CAR.  I am sick of being ignored and getting no response I am not going to go away, I don't know if Lawyers in Florida do products liability cases on a contingency basis but I am going to find out.

If not I will try and get a class action lawsuit going through the internet.  If the press is interested that would be great also.  This is so wrong, they should not be allowed to do this and then not own up to their responsibility.  They want top dollar for their vehicles and they get it, and yet when there are any issues such as mine they act like you do not exist.  Anyone willing to help me please feel free to call me at the above number or e-mail me at the above address.  Somehow I am going to make them listen to me and fix this.

STUART JEEP REPAINTED MY VEHICLE

AUTHOR: Terri_Cyrgalis - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, May 01, 2012

AFTER TWO MONTHS OF FIGHTING AND THREATS AND CALLS DIRECTLY TO CHRYSLER DODGE, STUART JEEP FINALLY REPAINTED MY VEHICLE FROM TOP TO BOTTOM.  THEY MISSED SEVERAL SPOTS BUT IT'S BETTER THAN HAVING THE PAINT PEELING OFF.  I DID GET THE CAR BACK WITH THE REAR WINDOW MOTOR NO LONGER WORKING, BUT AT LEAST THEY DID PAINT THE CAR.  I HAD TO CONTRIBUTE $500 TOWARD IT AS A "CO PAY".

To the OP. Heck, you were the one that posted "I am on social security disability and ONLY receive $954 a month and $477.06 of that goes to pay for this car". Heck, YOU put that WHOLE section in caps., making it the highlight of your post. Your disability or the source was none of my business OR concern until YOU brought it up and posted how you ONLY got $954 per month and you spent half of it on a car payment. It's all on you.

I hear you about your paint issue, but....

like the others above, why do you keep mentioning your financing issue?

You have completely diluted your argument about the paint by bringing in your disability and financial issues.

You decided to buy a vehicle and did not pay cash for the vehicle.  Instead you elected to finance the vehicle with a third party lender. This is all fine and good - but the monthly payment you selected for your vehicle has nothing to do with any repairs or paint issues on that same vehicle!

Don't even bring it up - as it makes you look like you don't know what you are talking about regarding the paint issue. These are two different items - keep them separate. By bringing in your disabilities and your financing problems you change your issue to one of entitlement rather than an issue of poor workmanship on your vehicle. No one wants to listen to the entitlement argument.

As to a class action suit - why do you want to do that? If you have a real issue, and it sounds like you do, then bring suit yourself. Get your warranty paperwork and all your documentation together and hire an attorney to get your car fixed. Asking for a class action suit is just an excuse to do nothing about the issue you have at hand.

Tough one.

"   I pay $477.06 per month for my car payment. "

"   I have 3 years of payments left on the car still owing over $14,000.00. "

"  I HAVE WAY TOO MUCH TIME LEFT ON MY LOAN AND HAVE SACRIFICED FOR THE PAST 3 YEARS PAYING IT AS IT IS BECAUSE I WANTED A NICE CAR.  I AM ON SOCIAL SECURITY DISABILITY AND ONLY RECEIVE $954 A MONTH AND $477.06 OF THAT GOES TO PAY FOR THIS CAR. "

I'm not sure why repeatedly bringing up your ridiculous financial decisions has anything to do with your warranty issue.  It doesn't help your case.

I WANT MY CAR PAINTED FROM TOP TO BOTTOM "

That would be nice, but Chrysler is only going to spend millions to repaint cars if they are legally obligated to do so.   It's clear that you did not report this during the basic factory warranty period, so that's out.  It' all comes down to the extended warranty you bought from Chrysler.

" also purchased the Chrysler Extended Warranty from Chrysler that is supposed to be "bumper to bumper" for 5 years or 60,000 miles.  "

I don't know what you're saying here.    You have the warranty.  If it is supposed to be bumper to bumper, tell us what it says about paint.    If "supposed to" actually means that you assumed the warranty would cover paint, but it actually does not, then you're out of luck.  Chrysler went to the trouble of writing exactly what would and would not be covered in the extended warranty.   Assumptions are not required.

Does it suck that paint starts to deteriorate just after the warranty expires?  Sure does.  Chrysler was turning these cars out when they were on the brink of going under and there are a lot of issues.  Realistically, if Chrysler were to start fixing all of the problems with cars of that era (not under warranty), they'd probably go bankrupt again.

Social Security Disability not FREE worked for 35 years before beoming ill

AUTHOR: Terri_Cyrgalis - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, January 26, 2012

Just so you understand I get Social Security Disability because I became chronically ill.  I do have a husband who supports me and yes 1/2 of "my" income goes to the car payment, but I am not starving and have my husbands income to live on otherwise I would not be driving the car that I have.

Do you work for Mitt Romney and have issues with people with disabilities, obviously you are still healthy, lucky you.

Another Shot Me In The Head Complaint

AUTHOR: Cory - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, January 26, 2012

You have a perfectly legit complaint about your car's paint. But spare me the "I AM ON SOCIAL SECURITY DISABILITY AND ONLY RECEIVE $954 A MONTH. Christ, who gets $954 a month FREE and BLOWS FIFTY PERCENT OF IT, HALF on a f**king car payment? Now THAT"S not very bright.
